This is just a great idea and the best hot water bottle ever!! It was only last weekend that I posted a photo of my traditional hot water bottle which I was using to keep me warm in my shop. As it's florist shop I can't warm it up too much because of the flowers and it is something we get used to, working in the cold but just lately it's been a tad more chilly than expected.
So I was popping my hot water bottle into my layers of jacket and coats which worked fine but it would just fall out at the wrong time and leave with an explanation as to why I had suddenly given birth to a hot water bottle on the shop floor. It also made me look like the Michelin Man as well, not that I didn't already with my layers but I was looking slightly more built up shall we say. Then came a little miracle which was revealed in our local newspaper the Derby Telegraph, they had this article on a body bottle. This is a long hot water bottle which can be wrapped around and tied around the waist. How funny was that? The answer to my prayers, not that I had got to the stage of praying for this but you know what I mean.....the solution to my dilemma. It was available from Argos so that was it, I ordered it online and boom was down to my local store to pick it up. Not only would it be a good source of warmth for me while at work, it would be a great relief to my lower back pain. I thought it was a bit pricey at first at £24.99 but then I realised I was probably going to save money in buying those heat patches which I stick on to help with my back pain so in the long run a saving. It only takes a kettle of water to fill and you have six hours of glorious heat around your body. You can wear it anywhere that you feel it helps, even around the shoulders and neck area so very versatile. I love it and I just can't get over how I was only just thinking how to keep warm using a hotty bottle and this popped up.....it's as if someone is keeping their eye on me. This little baby comes in two colours, grey and a grey polka dot pattern so you do have a choice and the cover is machine washable. All good eh? Brilliant therapy if you have any tummy cramps or pain as you can wear it around your waist and carry on with your busy life. I mean look at this lady in the photo, she looks so happy with hers, it can only be a good thing. Give it a go and let me know how you go on. Thank you for reading today, come back again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now, take care.

What a title to a post, don't you get clogged up me lovelies - save the drains!!! Well you can with these very trendy silicone star sink filters. In four different colours too so you can could have them all over the house.
Better than the metal jobbies eh? Some people prefer the metal ones that fit in the plughole I suppose as it looks more refined but if you like a bit of fun then these are good. I actually bought these for my shop as the little ends I cut of my stems tended to block my sink so I need to trap them. I did go for the metal one originally and although it does fit in the plughole it tends to pop out if I pour anything into the sink. These little babies are a lot better though, because they are silicone the little bits stick to it too so there's less chance of escapage. They don't tend to effect the flow of water and they also work with really hot water too so no issues so far. The only issue was which colour to use really but then I could use a different colour every day if I wanted and just rotate them. Not really I'm not going that far but I can recommend them if you do need to trap any bits and pieces. I suppose they would be really good for the bathroom if you have long hair that tends to block the plughole. They remind me of that starfish in Finding Nemo, the one in the tank at the dentist but that's probably just me watching too many Disney films with my son. I might just draw a face on mine for a laugh. You can purchase these wonders from Amazon and I will pop a link (affiliated) at the end of this post so go and order them straight away. Thank you for reading today, I will be back tomorrow with my Verse for Thursday but for now, take care everyone!
Do you know, if I order a gadget of some sort and it doesn't come with a case for it then I get a little disappointed. A case kind of makes the whole deal of buying something new for me. So when I ordered the iZettle card machine, which is fab by the way, I was left thinking well where's the case for it?
The card machine was on a special offer at only £19 so I suppose I couldn't expect too much and most card machines stay in one place but with this one you can take anywhere such as an event where you can sell your wares. I thought well it needs to be in something if I'm going to take it out and about so I did some research and found one myself. The one I came up with is actually a digital camera case but after some careful and precise work with my tape measure I got one to perfectly fit my iZettle. It's great, the machine goes in perfectly and the charger fits in the small pocket at the front. It even has a strap so I could sling over my shoulder as a new fashion accessory. Yes I did get it from Amazon and I will pop a little link to it (affiliated) at the end of this post but if you do have one of these new card machines such as the iZettle then this case is perfect. I'm not sure what the size of the Sum Up one is but they are very similar and this may fit that too. Being a camera case it is nicely cushioned so whatever you put in it is well protected. I hope this is of some help if you are a case'aholic like me, I have to have everything in a case or it's just not right. It may come from the fact that I am also a bag'aholic as well so this is just a bag for the little things. I don't need a cure though I'm ok, it just means that I carry everything around in a case and that's good right? Anyway thank you for reading today, I will be back tomorrow with my Verse for Thursday but for now take care and here's your link........
I am now on my third novel now my Clare Mackintosh and they are some of the best books I've read. I don't like a predictable book, one you can almost guess the end to and with these books you would really struggle to do that. There are so many twists and turns you just never know what is going to happen.
They are also the kind of books where you may still be reading at midnight and think 'ok I'll just read one more chapter' and before you know it you've read three more. I reviewed one of Clare's books back in December called ' I See You' here a-really-good-thriller.html after that I read 'I Let You Go'. That was a great book where the character Jenna takes herself away to start a fresh new life to a remote cottage on the Welsh coast. She is escaping an awful ordeal which happened in her past and eventually things do catch up with her. I'm not giving too much away as it would spoil it but things are not what they seem here and talk about a thrilling end, my goodness I was on the edge of my bed reading this. It really is worth a read. I then moved on to 'Let Me Lie', a number one Sunday Times best seller and a Richard and Judy Book Club readers favourite. This again is another great Mackintosh mashup of so many twists a book could possible make without it being confusing. The element of surprise in these books is great, never boring. So Anna is the main character here and is struggling to get over both her parents deaths to suicide within months of each other. She senses something is just not right in the way they died. Anna pleads with the police into looking at whether her parents were murdered but is that what happened? What did happen? Well I will let you find out and let you read the book for yourself, you need to know now don't you? I couldn't put any of these books down which is good for me as I am a bit fussy about what I read, it has to be good otherwise it gets binned. Clare Mackintosh has a new book coming out in the summer of this year which I can't wait for obviously.....be patient Sue from the Brew!! If you would like to read this books I will leave a link to Amazon (affiliated) at the end of this post. For now though you all take care and I will be back tomorrow with another Verse for Thursday. Here's your links.....get reading....... It not so much recommending what to to buy this week but where to buy. Buy from your local small business it will make you feel so good, and it will probably make a little shop owner very happy. I know what you're thinking, that I'm only saying this because I've become a small business owner.
Well ok yes but then out of my experience just recently I can tell you that everybody who comes in and spends their money, even if it is for a few pounds brings so much excitement and joy to a little shop owner like me. Do you know what I love about being part of a small business though? It is the community, talking to people passing by and learning about their lives.....that my friends is priceless. We move so quickly around in life, we forget to talk to people, you see I remember life before the big supermarkets, yes the old days kids. I remember when small shops were all we had but I remember the big community spirit we had between all the business's in our area. Don't forget that the money you spend at you local shop goes back into you local community so it has to be a good thing to help boost the economy. Local business's also provide local jobs for people, the service. you get is more personal and they will also want to help if anything should go wrong. It can be better for the environment as the local shop may only be a stones throw away, a healthy walk away instead of going out miles polluting the air with our cars. It's fun as well, I know when I have been to a local shop it's been nice to chat but more so to see how creative people can be. There are some very hardworking people who just want to please you with their produce. So go and try it, instead of thinking of the big superstores, think smaller. yes you may end up spending a bit more and it may not turn out to be as convenient but think how good it will make you feel and how it will make the shop owner feel....your few pennies is like a lottery win and I can tell you that from experience. Thank you for letting me express that, it's not until you do something for yourself that you realise what impact it has on others. Always remember too that a lot of local charities benefit from local business's, most shops have a charity box that you can put your lose change in. When that builds up, customer after customer think how happy those charities will be too. I tell you it's a win win situation. 'Why help make big companies bigger when you can get the same thing from the little guy and actually help someone accomplish their dream?' Trevor D. Richardson, author Join me tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday, but for now.... Take care. Ah you thought I was going to talk about Ikea eh? Well now there is a Danish store to rival the Swedish friends we know so well. We have a new JYSK which has opened here in Derby and I was quite impressed.
The concept is very similar to the other Swedish furniture place in that it is very reasonably priced but you do have to take it home flat packed and build it yourself. I had my eye on a few furniture items in the store and asked a very friendly sales person if it was easy to put together, in fact I actually said 'is it as easy to put together as the other Scandinavian place which we won't mention?'. He told me not to swear but said yes it is all supplied with pre drilled holes and is very simple to to construct. So I thought that's good, it's like Ikea stuff then and I have experimented with quite a bit of their furniture and have managed it without a Scandinavian man to help me. This is good then, I can now buy top Danish furniture from just up the road and although it is a smallish store I can still find my way around without a map. I have to follow arrows in Ikea and frankly one can spend a day in there by the time there has been a little shopping, stop for meatballs and then more shopping. I do like to pretend to be a warehouse person though and find my furniture on the shelves. I'm thinking of going for a forklift licence and then I could take something off the top shelf (I bet that's where the saucy bedroom furniture is - as seen on 50 Shades). So I was quite impressed with my first visit to JYSK, not sure how to pronounce it and tend to get the letters all mixed up but apparently it means 'Jutlandic' so there you go.....now you know. The first store opened way back in 1979 so it has been around along time but obviously we never hear about these things until a store like this pops in this county. The first UK stores opened in 2008 so it's only taken ten years to get to Derby, better late than never I say. If you would like more information about JYSK then take a look at their website here www.jysk.co.uk you can also sign up to their newsletter to obtain discounts and offers so worth it if you have your eye on lots of things like I have. Give it a try and let me know what you think. I am going back soon just to see if it was as good as I thought it was the first time around and to check out any bargains. Thank you so much for reading today, please join me again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now........ ....you all take care now.
This is absolutely brilliant if you have brittle fungus nails. Not nice eh? I'm not going to go into detail about nail fungus infections and I'm surprised I'm even talking about it here. I cannot stand anything to do with feet especially nails, I seem to have a nailaphobia.
So I wasn't going to go to the doctors about my brittle nails, instead I wanted to sort it myself, guess what? I went to Dr Amazon. I didn't really want to use anything with any chemicals in and so I found this natural oregano oil.. When I purchased it initially it was called Fungus Stop so I think it's had a bit of a name change but still the same stuff. I used it twice a day, every day for about six months and at the beginning I thought that it won't work but it's worth a go. You don't have to do anything complicated just paint it on the infected nails twice a day. I would paint it on in the morning and then at night before I went to bed, remembering to let it dry otherwise my toes would be stuck to my duvet. I know what you're thinking.....yeah yeah hippy herby oil with no medication in it, like that's gonna work............ Well it has and I am blooming amazed, for the first time in years I can actually cut my toe nail with it shooting of in all directions and coming away in one big brittle climb (sorry too much info there). The reviews on Amazon were good although I didn't have much confidence in them but my goodness this has been the best thing I've ever tried and I have tried a few things. I'm still worried it might return or not have completely cleared but because of the change it's made I would just start using again to clear it. It's made such a difference. With other lotions and potions I've tried they did suggest just filing the surface of the nail with a nail file, this doesn't say to do that but I found it may have helped but only did that once a week. It says to use it for 4-8 weeks but depending on the condition of your nails you could expect to use it for up to a year if necessary so be prepared to get into a bit of a routine. You don't even have to have a fungus infection as this will work to just improve the condition of your nails and it can be used on hands and feet. I will pop a link (affiliated) at the end of this post for Amazon. Don't be put off by the price as it is £12.26 for a little 10ml bottle but it is going to last for quite a while. It is good value and well worth the money. So here is the link. I will catch you again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now.......take care.
I am so loving this little portable desk for my laptop. I am even typing out this post while using it now. I'm sat very comfortable and my laptop is at a nice position, I could just carry on typing all day and night..
I first saw an advert for one of these little tables on Facebook and I then read the comments to see what people thought of it. It was priced at approx £45 which I thought was a bit pricey really so I thought against it until I saw one comment which said to look on Amazon. Well you know what I'm like when it comes to Amazon, I'd order everything from there if I could. So I found the same product for half the price. Boom!! I thought right I'm having one of those. I type a lot when studying and especially when I'm talking to you lot so I thought, well why not be comfortable while doing it. I don't know about you but when I use my laptop on my lap it just sometimes slides about and I never feel very comfortable while typing. This however gets everything at the right position and it has become so much easier to work online. Now it does take a bit of getting use to so if you are thinking of buying one don't expect to get it in the right position straight away. The legs are extendable and you can see from the picture how many positions there are, in fact there are more than these, it really is very versatile.. It has the numbers of degrees at which you can set the legs by which is handy but don't pay too much attention to getting them exactly the same on both sides, as long as it's sturdy and in the position you want then that's fine. It is strong and seems well built so should hold any laptop with ease, it even has little plastic stoppers at the bottom to prevent your laptop from falling off. There is an additional tray which you can screw onto the side to enable the use of a mouse but I haven't used that yet. You also get a cooling fan underneath which can be connected to your laptop using a usb plug to prevent any overheating. I wonder if I could plug I into myself when I'm having a hot flush, I won't try it. Overall I'm really impressed and have used this a lot since I purchased it. You could put a book or ipad on it instead of a laptop, it is just a great little workstation. I will pop a link (affiliated) at the end of this post for you if you want to try one. For now though you take care and join me again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday. Well I received a voucher for Boots as one of my Christmas pressies so I thought this would be a great time to replace my electric toothbrush. Oh my poor old Oral B Vitality had run out of it's vitality and was practically on it's last legs, (I know, toothbrushes don't have legs). It wasn't holding the charge so I was having to constantly recharge it but I can't complain as I have had that it for a few years now so it has been good to me.
This one though, wow I'm buzzing even now from such a great teeth brush sesh. I've just realised the difference between a cranky old one and a sparkling super smashing powerful new one. I've gone from 2D to 3D, a bit like a movie but without wearing the glasses and the brush has super flossing capabilities so the worlds my oyster now really. My dentist will be shocked at my next check up, I bet she says 'has someone had a new toothbrush?' Well ok she might not be quite as excited as I am but I will tell her. I can use different heads on it such as Cross Action, 3D White, Sensi Ultrathin, Sensitive Clean, Precision Clean, Floss Action, Tri Zone, Dual Clean, Power Tip, Ortho Care. I am so going to try all of those depending on my mood for the day. I have actually found a variety pack of replacement heads on Amazon so for the next ten years I'll be just experimenting with different heads (that sounds so wrong doesn't it?). There is a nifty timer which encourages you to brush for two minutes and the brush gives a vibrating tone at 30 second intervals to remind you to shift around to a different part of your mouth. Every tooth gets a bit of brushing love with this toothbrush. I love it. I purchased this from Boots for £24.99 (RRP £49.99) so a half price deal there but Amazon have it too at £24.95 so I think thats good value really. I saw some for about £300, what do they do? I did actually say that out loud in the store and expected a sales person to rush over and tell me exactly what I would get for £300. I expect a personal dental hygienist with it free of charge for that money. Alas no sales person just my autistic son who said ' well Babs everyone likes a different toothbrush', and quite right. I'm happy with my lower priced one, may be lower in price but not low in quality. I really don't need a million heads, a fancy stand, a travel case and smart technology, it's a toothbrush for goodness sake. I am such a happy brusher now. Thanks for reading today, do come back tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now you take care and..... Keep brushing!! |
