I'm becoming a bit of a fan of Carole Matthews and especially her books ever since one of her books was on the list to read at a local book club. They are nice easy reads which I like as I can't be bothered with anything to complicated, life can be very complicated and we all need a bit of an escape.
I love this book and think it may be my favourite so far. It tells the tale of Fay Merryweather and her life as a carer for her mum but also running a cake shop and cafe from her home. She's going along in life quite well until Danny Wilde moors his narrowboat on the canal at the bottom of the garden and causes a bit of a wirlwind shall we say. I just couldn't put this down, I needed to know what was going to happen next and Carole does a fab job of keeping you interested and wanting more. There are some lovely characters in this book which makes it so heartwarming, the young girl who works with her is so funny and very lovable, I wish she really existed as I think everyone would love her around in their lives. Fay certainly has some huge choices to make here and hopefully she makes the right ones as life is too short and needs to be lived. So if you're a fan of a story with happiness, bit of sadness, drama, passion and maybe a bit of romance then you need to read this book. I purchased it from Amazon so I'll leave a link (affiliated) at the end of this post. There are many books written by Carole, I'm actually onto another one so it seems I may be working my way through them all and there is a new one about to be released so I'd better get reading. I'm giving this a massive 5 out of 5 on the teapot rating as I just loved it and haven't been this hooked on a book for a while. Thank you for your time today, please join me again tomorrow as I will have a Verse for Thursday until then stay safe and warm in this very cold weather in the UK - Big Love xx
