Ah sad news for the telly world today
for the dear Michael Angelis has sadly passed away His voice has been with us for so many years a regular sound in all of our ears He was an actor who did so much but for Thomas the Tank fans your heart he would touch With his smooth tone and Liverpudlian trill listening to him was such a thrill So we say a goodbye but you've not really gone as you have left so many memories that will allow you to live on From all generations of lives you did occupy a big thank you to you Michael you can now FLY HIGH

What do we do when the telly runs out?
The actors can't film anything, that's what it's all about We may have to call on all Zoomers and Tik Tokkers out there to perform in Eastenders, well that would improve it to be fair I think most soap operas will run out of new stuff any day as filming now means being two metres away That means no kissing or fighting will take place in fact nothing at all close together, face to face I'm sure they will come up with something they're clever you see they will think of a way of entertaining the likes of you and me I'm ok with watching the old classics on repeat some of the oldies you just can't beat But that doesn't help the tv people, they need their pay they need to get back to the cobbles, the square and the farm today Somebody somewhere will have a plan so don't worry if your'e a big tv fan It was a bit different with Eurovision this year
there was an alternative programme so you don't have to fear For some of you though I feel a sense of relief What?? The selection of some Euro tune is not your belief? I can't help but watch it, I'm curious who will win I like all the hype and tend to join in The more amusing the song well that does it for me I just stare open mouthed at what I can see We've had milk maids, singing grannies and the odd ripped skirt the camera, the lights and the full stage show seem to work But not this year, instead we saw acts from the past memories from previous decades, the ones that really last There were even snippets of songs from this year the singers I suppose will have shed a little tear For they were unable to perform while we had takeaway for our dinner in the hope that one of them would be crowned the winner So put your flags away and party things for another Eurovision day BBC, you did a great job by the way Love it or hate it they gave it a good run in the hope that it all returns in 2021 Oh Villanelle what's with all the killin'
she's back and it is kinda thrillin' I keep wondering what the next murder weapon will be guess I'll just have to be patient and wait to see She turns up to a job in a different disguise you know someone is doomed and usually dies She does it with humour we can't get enough she can be sensitive but also really tough We should all dislike her, she's a baddy after all but can't help loving her, when watching her I'm having a ball I may have just glorified murder, oops I'll sit down and breathe Get ready on a Sunday 9.15pm it's Killing Eve This is our family favourite at the moment, it's such a long week waiting for the next episode. My son and I were huge fans of Horrible Histories so when we heard this new series was going to involve the writers and actors from that we couldn't resist giving it a try.
My son watched the first episode and said 'you've got to watch it mum it's brilliant' and I have to say he's right. It's funny, silly and has that Horrible Histories feel with this lot as the cast. We love it. Young couple Alison and Mike inherit this big country manor and decide they are going to renovate it and turn it into a hotel. The ghosts who inhabit the manor already have different ideas and need to scare this couple away. Some of their techniques to appear spooky and scary need a lot of work and they fail to get through to them. That is until Alison has a fall, hits her head and then starts to see the ghosts. It's a shock for her at first as these ghosts are not conventional, run of the mill ghosts, they are from all sorts of different deaths. I like that in an interview and talking about creating this series they mentioned that when we think of ghosts we tend to think of them as medieval figures with floaty dresses etc and their aim with this project was to involve some modern ghosts and even go way way back and have a caveman ghost. When do you ever see a caveman ghost? Well I haven't seen any at all myself but I do quite like seeing these ghosts. You have to give it a watch and if you liked Horrible Histories and Yonderland then you're going to love it. It's a light entertaining show with a bit of a giggle. We are hooked and eagerly waiting for Monday evening 9.30pm on BBC1 when we can get another ghostly fix. That's my tip for the week, it did start on the 15th April so you may have to play catch up on the iplayer, go on it's worth it. I will be back tomorrow for Music Monday but for now you all take care. I am watching the new series of The Durrells and it is as good as ever before. I am sad though that this will be the last series, no more after this one, nooooooooo!
Mind you all good things must come to an end and I am sure it will finish in style. I am so glad that this has been popular because it is great entertainment. There is drama, comedy and just an all over good feeling when watching this. The scenery is fabulous too, all that sunshine in Corfu, makes you want to go eh? We have soaring temperatures here in the UK at the moment but it is the characters that make this series so complete. The programme is based on the autobiographical accounts by Gerald Durrell and his family life between the years of 1935 and 1939 so obviously the series has to come to a natural end but it is so nice that they got to complete the adaptation timescale from the books. I suppose there are a few dark times ahead in this series as war is looming and we will see how that will effect Louisa and her family. I feel for that woman sometimes keeping everything together particularly through the tough times when they first moved out there from the UK. I'm so glad she has finally given that house a little bit of a lick of paint, there is so much that could be done but she's on a budget remember and I have kind of got used to the rustic look. Will Louisa and Spiro ever get together? That's the big question. I know he has a wife but is it going anywhere? Oh for goodness sake, I do hope I am not left with disappointment and heartbreak. I think everyone wants these two to become a fully fledge official couple. They nearly did, it was looking promising at the end of the last series but alas, it was not meant to be. So frustrating!! If you have not watched The Durrells then you really need to. I think it has been one of the best things on tv so go and catch up or buy a box set from Amazon (other retailers are available) and binge watch the whole lot. You will not be disappointed and you may well thank me for helping to make your entertainment life complete. You are very welcome. Ok I am going to get stuff done so I can sit and relax later for the next episode. Join me again tomorrow for Music Monday but for now...... Take care and don't forget the suncream.......it's hot out there!!!! Oh I've let my telly viewing slip
I don't really have a top tip I mean I've watched the usual but nothing new kept my eyes on AC-12 those boys and girls in blue I suppose you could say I lost the remote shall I leave now and get my coat? Na I'll be back to bug you some more before Victoria and Albert go to matrimonial war Graham Norton is back which is good to see on Friday night where he should be Casualty I catch up with as I tend to nap watching it later just fills an empty gap So don't despair it's all ok I just got busy that's all I have to say I've not gone away by plane, car or boat I will return next Sunday with Pass the Remote 📺📺📺 Thank you for reading today. Join me again tomorrow for Music Monday but for now.... Take care xxx They are back, the team at AC-12 are in the thick of it already in the first episode of series five. Wow what a start and not following the usual routine of pinning down one corrupt officer this time but going for an organised crime group.
Are you keeping up with all the jargon though? I mean just in this one episode we had a RTC, SCG, OCG ARU, an UCO and a ED905. If that isn't enough to confuse you I don't know what is. I couldn't hear the sound too well on my tv, some programmes seem a bit muffled and it always tends to be the BBC for some reason so I pop the subtitles on, well that becomes more entertaining than the actual programme. I think OCG (organised crime group) and UCO (undercover officer) will feature a lot although the ED905 (name given to the truck load of heroin) had a big part. If in doubt ask a friendly police officer or look them up on the internet, like I just did. I kind of want to go around in my own life now though with loads of abbreviations..... LCO - Lawn Cutting Operation CBS - Changing Bed Sheets ED - Empty Dishwasher closely followed by FD - Fill Dishwasher (again) OSR - Operation School Run (although it tends to be college now for me) MD - Make Dinner I've already done the ED and FD this morning but need to follow up later with a LCO and CBS if I get a moment. Tough life in this domestic world. A great start to the series of Line of Duty and so good to see some familiar faces (although not for long for some - no spoilers). There are some new faces joining the cast too and I cannot wait for the next episode. It's packed with excitement and I think we can expect the normal LOD (see what I did there) twists and turns, shocks and surprises so stay tuned. We have some new dramas starting this week so I will try and keep up with those. The Durrells make a return on ITV tonight at 8pm which will be the last series so catch that if you are a fan. For now though I need to GMLAOOB (get my lazy arse out of bed) and go to and do important things. I will be back tomorrow for Music Monday but for now you all TC (take care). Oh heck the poor Queen has hit hard times. Yes Victoria returned for the start of a third series last Sunday and what a start. She's taken everyone in to the palace and then there's a revolution kicking off outside in the front garden.
The King of France, Louis Philippe turned up needing a bed after being turfed out of his country and then to add to that Victoria's half sister, Princess Feodora pops up out of nowhere and borrows all her frocks. The public are protesting for change as the start of the chartist movement becomes apparent. This came in very handy as I was studying the Chartist's in my recent essay for The Open University so I watched this with an added interest. All this happening to Victoria as well as being heavily pregnant with her sixth child. I moan some days that things are not going my way or about silly stuff that isn't worth complaining about but blimey I think I will think again after watching this. I was wondering how much she could take as the situation with the Chartist's really puts her and her family's life in danger. I felt quite exhausted watching it but glad for it's return. Jenna Coleman plays the monarch so well and we see the introduction of the cheeky Lord Palmerston played by Laurence Fox, wasn't he just brilliant? I don't think anyone else could have played that part as well as him. It was like pantomime, I wanted to boo at the telly and get saying 'oh you naughty naughty man'. There were dark times back then and you do get a good history lesson if you were not already familiar with the story of Queen Victoria so it's an education as well as watching brilliant drama. looking forward to seeing more tonight. A bit of a conflict tonight though as we see the return Line of Duty which I am so excited about but it will clash with Victoria at the same time of 9pm. I've decided my mum's day treat tonight is a glass of wine after a day's work and watch the team at AC-12 sort out the corrupted coppers, love it. So I may have to catch up with Victoria later on. Don't tell me what happens, no spoilers. I will probably end up catching up with both of them after snoozing on the sofa but we'll see. However you watch your telly and whatever you watch enjoy and I will be back tomorrow with Music Monday......but for now....... ....take care. Well I had to leave the quiet isles of Shetland this week as the series ended in true style. I love Shetland, it's just brilliant, it follows one story and I didn't realise so much could happen on these islands. The plot goes so many different ways and you end up suspecting everyone before realising the one person who you didn't suspect is in fact the culprit.
I've been all around the island, even jumped off for a while as Perez had to go and fetch his daughter from university to keep her safe. We have seen a few locals and visitors knocked off and bodies floating in the sea so it's all happened up there. You can never guess though with all the twists and turns but I do like how they come to a conclusion in the end and everything makes sense. I'm never left too confused with his programme and it usually gets a happy ending. If you have never watched Shetland, well give it a go as I think it's one of the best crime drama's around. You can catch up on the BBC iplayer and besides all the blood and murder there is some absolutely stunning scenery. All quiet on the Scottish isles, well it seems not. Everyone can rest now though as Perez and his team have brought order to Shetland and it's safe now but for how long? I went from Shetland over to Morecambe Bay to see what was happening in the first of a new police drama series called The Bay. I wasn't quite sure about this to be honest, I was left feeling a bit flat and not very impressed. Some people are comparing this to Broadchurch probably because of the storyline involving two missing children and it has that same feel but I don't think it will be as good. The first programme has caused a bit of a stir with the public and the main character DS Lisa Armstrong played my Morven Christie has already come under some criticism. She's driven with a hangover so possibly still over the limit, used her mobile phone while driving and deleted crucial evidence. The thing that people need to remember though is that it isn't real and she isn't a real police woman. The writers are just building up the story so you get an idea to the background of her character and yes she isn't a great copper at the moment but will she be? Don't take it too seriously is my advice, it's not a true story!. A good plot though with the storyline and although I wasn't grabbed entirely by the first one I may stick it out and watch another just to give it a chance. It may be one of those dramas that has an iffy start and turns out to be brilliant and also I kind of need to know where these kids have gone, no spoilers but we know about one but who is responsible for the mess that is emerging. I think it's going to be another one of those 'it's not who you think' cases again. If you want to give it and try you need to be watching ITV on Wednesday evenings at 9pm or go to the ITV Hub and catch up. You could say DS Armstrong is such a bad police woman that she would need to be investigated by the Line of Duty team well that series returns next Sunday (31st) and I can't wait. I love Line of Duty and what a great treat for Mother's Day. We will see The Durrells return soon for the final series which I am also looking forward and I will be perched by the box this evening for another series of Victoria. For now though I am going to grab a brew and calm down after trying to solve so many murders. We'll chill out tomorrow with a bit of music natter on Music Monday but for now you grab your brew too and take care. |
