Yes I like to froth my milk up a bit and try and make the best coffee to rival Costa especially this time of year. It's funny, as soon as there is a chill in the air I seem to go latte or milk coffee crazy. It was never a latte when we were kids, we made a milky coffee, first by boiling the milk in a pan on the stove and then when microwave ovens came along well that just made it so much easier.
I find as we approach a certain time of year things start to happen with coffee's, we start to put gingerbread syrup in and try to drown mini gingerbread men in a big pool of cream. Cinnamon gets included in drinks and we go boozy with a bit of Bailey's Irish Cream. All blooming lovely but sometimes I just want to save my pennies and have these delights in the comfort of my own home. I do have one of those electric milk frother's but it doesn't seem to hold a lot of milk, I tend to fill it to the max line and it ends up overflowing, greedy me eh? I know they are designed more to pop a layer of froth on your drink but I like a bit more milk. So I thought I would go for the battery hand held type and I can say this one (pictured) is really good. It has two frothy wands, one with a standard ring and then another with two super rings for producing double froth. I can put a load of milk in a jug now and get it properly professionally frothy. I haven't tried doing fancy pictures in my brew yet but hey I may try now. I do have a Tassimo machine and yes I could just buy the lattes for it but where's the fun in that? Sometimes I like fresh milk instead of the ones that come in the Tassimo pods. I can also froth up my favourite coconut milk too, in fact I could just mix anything with this baby, cream, eggs.....if it needs a bit of air in I'm whizzing it. I purchased this from Amazon and yes I will pop a link (affiliated) up at the end of this post. If you fancy yourself as a Barista or want to impress the family with posh coffee after THAT meal in December, oh ok Christmas dinner, there I said it! Just get one of these, really simple to use, easy to clean and makes your milk taste great in your brew, go on give it a go. Thank you for reading today, join me tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now take care and here's your link.......get frothing.

Yes you definitely need a ticket to the cinema to see First Man. It is the story of Neil Armstrong, his life and how he became to be the first man to walk on the moon. A piece of history right here and I am a bit ashamed to say I didn't know a lot about this man.
What a life and an adventure. All these astronauts give so much to the space program, a huge sacrifice but without them we would not know what we know today. We continue to learn more about the technology regarding space all because of them. I went to see this film in the super recliner seats at the Odeon cinema and felt as if I was on the Apollo spaceship myself. In fact if my seat shook and vibrated I would have been their right with Neil and Buzz Aldrin. I suppose in Disneyland you get that kind of experience but maybe I was expecting bit too much from Derby's recent refurbishment. These seats are perfect for this film though, you do certainly get the full experience. It was a great film with Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong and Claire Foy as Janet, his first wife. It certainly has some emotional scenes and dramatic encounters with added silence which made it really eery. It gave us a taste as to what people went through in 1969, waiting for this momentous moment and the sheer suspense on whether this mission would be completed. It did though and I loved hearing the classic speeches from that time, you just can't beat 'the eagle has landed' and 'one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind'. I only just missed out on the moon landing as I was busy in the womb at the time but I do appreciate seeing this now and taking in the atmosphere of what it would of been like to watch these men set foot on the moon. I also liked learning more about Neil Armstrong. I can totally recommend this film and if you can go and get a recliner seat well that makes it even better. You can pretend to be a astronaut, I'm so easily pleased and like a kid sometimes, my son may have disowned me in parts of this movie but hey I was having fun. Let me know what you think if you have seen the movie, did you enjoy it? For now though you all take care and I will be back tomorrow with my Verse for Thursday.......Bye for now.
I think my water bottle addiction is getting as bad as my hand bag addiction. I have a few now, all very different but they do get used. I've got one where I can chuck my fruit into a plastic centrepiece and it lets fruit defuse out into the water flavouring it naturally and I have one that holds what looks like a gallon of water which is great as I don't have to keep refilling it every five minutes.
I have though been putting off buying one of these stainless steel ones for ages, I just couldn't make up my mind if I liked them. It's just a funny texture thing with me and I wondered if I fancied drinking from a metal bottle over a plastic one which to me has always felt more comfortable. So I thought 'oh go on then I'll try one' and I really like it. These SHO bottles are available on Amazon in a variety of different colours and sizes. They are easy to clean and good quality. I thought these bottle would be heavy when filled but no it's light enough to transport around. I purchased the 500ml one in blue and it fits very nicely in my bag, in fact it goes everywhere with me now. I love the fact that when I fill it with cold water it will stay cold for up to 24 hours, I prefer to drink iced cold water, I tend to be a bit reluctant to drink water if it's warmer, it just doesn't feel refreshing enough so this is a great plus for me. I can also fill it with a hot drink that will stay warm for up to 12 hours too so I can have my favourite brew in it! Oh I'm liking it now. There is another reason for buying lots of water bottles as I'm trying to tempt my son into using one. He prefers drinking bottled water and I buy small bottles of water from the supermarket at an alarming rate. David Attenborough would not be pleased although the bottles do seem to be recyclable. It's not the point though, I feel I'm harming the environment every time I buy them which has got to stop, after all we only have 12 years to save the planet.....where is Flash Gordon when you need him. The good news is that he does love this SHO bottle and is having one himself so it's looking promising. I have a water filter jug in the fridge and so buying bottled water seems a bit daft. I bought this bottle for £16.99 which may seem a bit pricey but I think they are all around this price range, some more expensive. When you have bought one and a good quality one it will last you so it's a good investment and look, you're saving the planet. Well I feel good now. Yes it's been looming for a while me thinks but what do we take when the symptoms take hold? I've been suffering from a few menopausal symptoms just lately....I flush bright red when in the middle of conversations, sweat at night, my mind is a bit fuzzy (some say no change there then) but what I've struggled with most, just lately is anxiety and panic attacks.
I can handle my bed resembling a scene from Titanic......I do feel I'm hanging onto to a bit of driftwood while slowly sliding into my own ocean of sweat. No orchestra to accompany me sinking into my soaking sheets but hey, I live to sweat again and sheets, well they wash. I'm not even to fussed about my face flushing bright red as I can just say 'sorry it's my age you know'. Standing next to the beetroot in Tesco you wouldn't even see me anyway......great disguise. What I can't be doing with though is the feeling of anxiety. It's an awful feeling like my heart is going to just beat right out of my body. It kind of feels like a massive big void inside that is so tense it sets of a panic that stops me from thinking I can carry on with normal every day tasks. It seems to be a morning thing which makes sense if it's a hormone surge I suppose. I have set off in the morning to take my son to college and had to turn around and come back because the thought of carrying on my journey just filled me with dread. Those who have experienced this will know how it feels and how frustrating it can feel. Why would I feel this way? There is not reason for it. I'm telling it to go away, talking to myself like a woman possessed. I just think telling myself to stop being silly might help, having a strong word with myself, well quite a few actually and some are swear words. I don't want to take medication if I can help it, I'm not a big fan so I'm trying to find natural ways to beat all this. I asked around and was recommended some supplements. There are many on the market and I suppose it maybe a case of trying different ones to see which works. It's to early to tell whether these Menosan Menopause Support supplements work yet as I've only just starting taking them so I may have to come back to this topic. I probably will talk about it again as I think it's good to help each other through these times and it may be around for a while yet. It's a period of a woman's life that can either be quite easy or debilitating and depressing so we need to talk about it. It's part of the cycle of life.....or 'circle of life' and yes I just sang the song in my head, Elton would have been so proud. These supplements are quite pricey at £11.98 for 60 capsules and it advises one capsule twice a day but when you're anxious you'll try anything, well almost. I bought them very quickly from Amazon discreetly online, I say discreetly because if I'm honest and I had been in a real shop I would have been the customer shouting "give me something for the menopause and give it to me NOW!!!" Grabbing every herbal tea and herbal herbs going. There would be a very excited cashier, about 20 years old with painted on eyebrows, clearly not going through the menopause saying....."that will be £154.95 Sue from the Brew, enjoy your menopause". Thank goodness for Amazon. Here is the link (affiliated) to this product in case you're like me and need to try bit of natural help. The details are all on product page but like I say it is a bit of a trial thing as one thing that works for one person doesn't alway work for another so we'll see. Thank you for reading today and please let me know what has worked for you through the menopause, like I say it's good to help each other. Join me again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now take care. I know!!! Last one......surely?? But it's a goody and award winning too so I had to have it. ROKA are Winners of the 2018 Best New Product in London and if you look at the website you'll see why.
These bags are so well designed with handy pockets and waterproof too so great if you want to use the for a day trip out, a cycle journey or general for use. Maybe you are a student and regular get caught in the rain well worry no more, you will no longer be able to use that excuse that you can't hand your homework because it got soaked in your bag......everything is going to stay dry. Sorry! Or am I? Well no.....as you can see it has a lot of room with a pocket that holds a laptop easily and two more smaller pockets inside, there is also a large pocket on the front of the bag secured by a nice stylish buckle. On the rear is the classic rucksack straps and a pocket which I always use to pop my phone in keeping it handy for easy reach but still secure when the sack is worn on your back. There is a nice big sturdy zip as the main opening and a really clever closing system that allows the top of the bag to be zipped, folded over and secured by a couple of sets of magnets. Amazing!! I saw this and thought, yes, what a bag and I use it for my Open University books and study resources. My Uni bag....yay - I'm a student with a proper student bag. I love my bags......but I do like one that not only looks cool but is just so functional, waterproof and secure. If you would like more information on the ROKA range then head over to their website here: rokalondon.com If you are in the Derby area I actually purchased mine at a shop called Twigg Home situated at Unit 3, The Piazza, Mercia Marina, Willington, Derby, DE65 6DW They are good value bags as I think they will last for ages, there are different sizes and slightly different designs all in fabulous colours. I just fell in love and hope you will too. Go on have a look. I've been banned from looking at any more handbags now not by anyone else but myself. I must behave but I feel life is just way to short. Thank you for reading today and staying with me with my handbag addiction, what are your favourite handbags? No.....second thoughts don't tell me or show me any photos phewwwww this is going to be tricky. If you fancy reading one of my poems then join me again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now take care.
A nifty little hairdryer this week which you can literally use to dry and go as it folds up smaller enabling it to be nice and compact to pack in your luggage or weekend bag.
I ordered this to take away on my holiday as I didn't want to take my larger hairdryer, it just takes up too much room. I couldn't actually remember whether I needed one at all as I visited the same cottage last year but wasn't sure if I saw a hairdryer. Guess what? Of course there was on there, there's a hairdryer everywhere now even in the Premier Inn in Edinburgh on our return. Oh Sue from the Brew, did you really need a new hairdryer then? Well yes I did and to be honest this hairdryer is more powerful than my other one so may use it all the time now. Not sure why I fuss about a hairdryer at all as my hair is so short it could drip dry. Sometimes I pack with everyone else in mind though. I've got two teenage sons so if anyone one was going to ask for a dryer then there I was with a Yes!!! I have a hairdryer - boom! I got it from........yes that's it Amazon and at £13.59 I think it's a bargain. It has 1200w of power and 3 heat settings and with it's folding capability it's ready to throw into your case or bag without being bulky.. The box contains the hairdryer, instruction manual and a 24 month warranty. If you would like more information about this product I will leave the link (affiliated) to Amazon at the end of this post. Great little buy, I'm really pleased with it. so give it a go. Thank you for reading today, pop back tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday (where do these weeks go?) I can't actually believe how fast time is going....it will soon be Chri.........nooooooo I'm not saying it but hey this hairdryer would make a brilliant pressie......here's ya link.
I know what ya thinking........you're thinking 'oh gosh Sue from the Brew you have fallen into another bag shop and purchased yet another one' CALL BAGS ANONYMOUS NOW!!!!
It doesn't really count though does it? It really doesn't as it's not a handbag or just a backpack, it is in fact a backpack cool bag. Oh yes I am festival ready for every event now and I did test it at Hyde Park at the weekend. I was actually surprised how much food I could fit in.....oh ok I got wine in there too!! Gosh you're harsh on me today. It has lots of pockets to put things in including two mesh side pockets for more wine, oops I mean water or soft beverages. The security chap at Hyde Park found it easy to search so I think it passes the Proms in the Park security test and yes I was good, I put my wine in a plastic container.....get me - I read the rules!! There are straps on the front to fit a picnic blanket or in my case it held my Rock Choir jacket. It is perfectly plastic lined so that you can pop your freeze blocks in and keep the wine cool - so important. This bag is easy to carry with its rear straps for plonking on your back or it has nice long sturdy straps to carry it by hand if you find it a bit heavy or you've loaded too much Prosecco in there. It is £35.99, yikes I hear you say but it does hold 22 litres of goodies and also I really wanted a good quality bag that would last me a while so I thought I'd pay a bit more for something good. I'm glad I did as it is well made and so durable, I think I'll still be picnicking with it for a while to come. I will put a link to Amazon (affiliated) at the end of this post which gives all the information about this product including sizes and some more photos. All in all though I love this bag and will use it a lot for days out, I can certainly recommend it if you are looking for an easy to carry cool bag for Glasto next year! Thank you for reading today.....I will try and control myself around any more bags......maybe! Come back tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now....... Take care.
I actually ordered these pens while I was on holiday......I was also just curious to see whether I could get an Amazon delivery right up high in the Highlands. If you live up there you are probably saying 'of course, we get deliveries too'' but I just found it exciting. Come to think of it I find the smallest things amusing which says a lot about me and my life.
The reason I wanted these pens was that I had been onto the beach and picked some stones and decided I would like to paint them and leave at least one up in the Scottish Highlands somewhere for some one to find and hopefully rehide. There are a lot of these painted stones being hidden for various organisations and charities which is a lovely thing to do. It's a bit different and allows people to get creative, I'm certainly enjoying seeing ideas people come up with. These acrylic pens are great, they are easy to use and not at all messy. You don't have to mix the colours like you would if using paints, you can draw straight onto the stones, paint and also use them for writing on them too. When you have finished your design you can use a spray varnish to seal and generally give it a nice finish then off you go to hide it. There is no pressure to be a super artist, it's possible to create some lovely patterns and do as much or as little as you like. Here is just one of my stones, in fact it was the one I left at North Kessock. It was found and it has recently been re hidden again which was great.....it works!!
I painted my stones in memory of a lovely young lady called Samantha Brown. There is a Facebook page called Strolling Stones (S.A.M) for Samantha so take a look and keep your eyes peeled out the 'samstones' people are hiding.
If you would like to purchase some acrylic pens I found these on Amazon. There are quite a few available but here are the links (affiliated) to the ones I decided to buy.
These pens can be used for designs on other materials too such as mugs, glass, wood, porcelain, ceramics and fabric and they are really great to draw with so get your creative juices flowing and get drawing. Me? I just need to collect some more stones now.
Thank you for reading today, feel free to pop back again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday, for now though take care of yourselves. What a lovely name for a bag.....Maya who came from Mia Tui. I found this on Facebook and thought oh yes I love the look of that. These personalised ads are not good for a serial bag lover. I'm really going to have to be good or stop using Facebook, no a bad thing there to be honest.
This is a great bag though and I do love a backpack style bag especially for using on holiday which is what I bought it for really. It has lots of room with a compartment for a drinking bottle or I used it for an umbrella when I didn't have any water. There are smaller pockets inside and a larger pocket that easily fits an iPad in plus another small zipped pocket at the back of the main compartment. On the rear of the bag is a safety pocket for a purse or phone or in fact both, there's quite a bit of room there too. You do get a clear plastic pocket with this bag and a elastic key chain to keep you keys secure. I have a load of loyalty cards which I've punched holes in a loaded them onto a metal keyring. this was great to attach them to the bag so I didn't lose sight of them at the bottom of the bag. Maya is larger than it looked online and I'm really pleased with it. It is available in different colours but I decided on Dove Grey. This bag looks classy but has a real good functional use and I can get plenty in on a busy day or a day out while on holiday. I do love the pocket for a bottle as it keeps it upright where as I'm always worried with other bags that my bottle rattles around the bottom of a bag and may leak, no chance of that here. As I said last week I do love a change now and again so I will get plenty of use out of this bag. I ordered this backpack from Mia Tui and if you would like more information, take a look at their website at: www.miatui.com You look as I daren't look anymore not for a while anyway. I think I have enough bags now for a while.........did I just say that out loud on here? Well Mia Tui's slogan which says 'a bag for all reasons' now that's is a fabulous slogan for a bag lover like me. Thank you for reading today, I will return tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday so join me then. Take care for now. What a great bag and I love it not because it's a handbag and we all know how much I love handbags but Mum from the Brew treated me to this one.
Ohhhh look at all those pockets and I can you that I can find everything so easy. It allows me to keep it all tidy and I've not lost anything yet or got impatient because I can't remember where I've put something. I do love my bags where I chuck every thing in and processions just roam free but this is like a filing cabinet in a bag. This bag contains five, yes five roomy pockets with more zipped pockets inside and little pockets to pop your lippy in. Get this as well you even get a little purse with it as well, how cool is that? I love the colour as it goes with anything I wear and you can alter the strap so it can go across the body or wear it shorter under the arm. I've even had a new bag which I'll review next week that's if I can force myself to swap over from this one, not sure that will happen but maybe I'll use my new one as a holiday bag. Oh decisions decisions, it's a good job I'm not fussed about clothes and shoes otherwise I'd be in trouble. We all have to have a naughty vice eh? I do swap mine around and probably use a different one every few days. A bag to match my mood so at the moment I'm very happy. We shopped for this bag while on a visit to Belper in Derbyshire. If you would like a look at their website you can find it here: www.theleathershopbelper.co.uk Thank you for reading today and joining in with my bag addiction. Come back again tomorrow for my Verse for Thursday but for now take care. |
