Well done to Netta from Israel

Well there was me thinking it was in the bag for the UK, I was convinced we had the winner this year but alas......another year towards the bottom of the results table. I think our girl Surie deserved some kind of award for carrying on through her performance after 'that' stage invasion.

Not sure what the guy was protesting about and frankly he doesn't deserve any publicity for ruining a perfectly good performance. Surie was offered a chance to perform again and declined. I think she made the right choice as there was nothing wrong with her performance and actually he fired her up even more to belt out 'hold your head up - don't give up' ......as if to say.....yeah go away I'm not gonna be brought down by you, the British way eh?

She did us proud and I do honestly think that it was better than the result it received. Never mind we carry on, or should we? Some say it's time to pull out and save our money but I think we should just stop expecting a win then it won't lead to disappointment. Surely we would just look like sad losers if we stormed off with our cash vowing never to perform again - now that isn't at all British.

There were some great songs in this competition. I watched the tv coverage with my son and he took a liking to AWS from Hungary with their totally cool rock entry.. It had everything.....a lead singer with no shoes or socks on and crowd surfing......brilliant!!! I found myself just saying.....'yeah I quite like that' to most of them. I did even say I like the winning song by Netta Barzilai from Israel.

It was a classic Eurovision song with it's chicken dance and quirkiness. She just owned that stage and what a voice. I know this was a very gimmicky cheesy song but blimey she can sing. I loved her.....thought she brought the fun back to the contest, I'm not one for a ballad and couples who are really together looking slushily into each others eyes while singing. No - pass me the bucket now! Give me Netta any day......she knows what she wants, she's not going to be treated like a toy by anyone and I believe her. I don't think anyone is going to mess with this girl after this.

I've become quite a fan of Eurovision in the last couple of years. Not sure whether the voting is completely fair but then we've been saying that for years. I don't think it will ever be right. Oh hey lets them sing, I just like watching it. I think the performances have become a bit tame though, I personally would like more eccentricity and wackiness please.......it's just funny.

Well done to the BBC coverage and Graham Norton was magnificent. He does make me giggle and although a hard act to follow from Terry Wogan I think he has managed to take on this role better than anyone else could have done.

Onto to next year and I think we should put another novelty act in......what have we got to lose, well absolutely nothing it seems.

Thanks for reading today, join me again tomorrow for Teapot Tuesday but for now take care.

Yes we are approaching The Eurovision Song Contest again or do we we just call it Eurovision now? I'm not sure but we are competing yet again and everyone loves a trier don't they so fingers crossed for another year.

I think we may have a really good chance this year. Did I say that last year? Oh well I'm an optimistic and really have high hopes for our UK entry by SuRie. The song is Storm and it is really really good. Very powerful and good strong lyrics which is what it is all about and delivered fabulously by the lovely Susanna Marie Cork.

SuRe has had experience before of Eurovision when she was a backing singer with the Belgium entry in 2015 and was musical director for Belgium act Blanche in 2017. Now I don't want to jinx it but both these acts came fourth in their Eurovision years so a sign maybe? Is she our lucky gal to get us through? Even fourth place would be good, better than fourth from the bottom eh?

The final takes place on 12th May in Lisbon and I'm sure you will join me in wishing good luck to SuRie, no pressure love but we would like to win this year. I'm excited.....I think it's the one!!! Wooo hooo. It's got winner all over it.

If you haven't heard the song it is available for download now but here is the link to the official video on You Tube:
