I saw this lovely young man perform on Saturday night and a treat it was too. Local Derby boy Ryan has been performing since he was nine years old and has gained a lot experience in the theatre world and commercially too. He's rocked the cruise liners and worked the stage like a true professional.

Wherever he performs, whether it be a large or small venue he knows how to work an audience and the audience on Saturday night at the Mickleover Country Park Social Club couldn't get enough of him. Even for a small venue he fills it with his presence and star performances of West End classics from The Lion King, Les Mis and Miss Saigon which completed the first part of the night. The second set involved fun filled, disco diva and singalong songs we could all join in with from Tina Turner, Queen, Take That and The Beatles. Something for everyone and no one went away disappointed, you really are guaranteed a fabulous night.

The night was a charity event raising money for the Me & Dee Charity  whom Ryan is a regular supporter. The charity is run by Maria Hanson and together with her very small team work hard all year round to raise funds to provide holidays to anyone of any age, with life threatening, life limiting and terminal medical conditions.  They also now offer holidays to serving and ex serving military who have sustained serious injury and PTSD through their service. There are two fabulous caravans on the East Coast resort of Mablethorpe and this really is a chance for these families to take time away and make some precious memories together. The charity have no funding from anywhere else other than from the the events they run and from public support so it was an honour to all get together with Ryan to help raise some precious pennies for this charity to enable them to continue their great work.

Well it wasn't. very hot but it was an August night and it was filled with music and laughter. What a great all round music event, created ideally for everyone including all the family. There were people of all ages who came along to sing, dance and generally have a lot of fun. 

The afternoon started with a Blues Brothers tribute called The Rayban Blue Brothers and they did a fantastic job of warming the crowd up, dancing to some classic tunes such as Everybody Needs Somebody, Respect, Jailhouse Rock and Shake Your Tail Feather. A great band and would suit any party or event, I really enjoyed them.

Now the Little Mix tribute band I was a little worried about, not for them but for me not knowing many Little Mix hits. It might be my age or just that I've not paid enough attention but actually I realised I knew more than I thought. They are called In The Mix and according to our younger friends whom we sat with they did resemble them a lot. I do have to say they did sound great and performed all the Little Mix hits and more, proved themselves to be very popular.

The Robbie Williams tribute blew everyone away and was probably the most popular of the day. Millennium performed lots of Robbie numbers and threw a few Take That songs in too. The crowd went wild for him and sang their hearts out especially to the anthem 'Angels'. A very entertaining act so if you do get to see him, he is worth a look at.

The Beatles Revolution were next with the good ole' songs everyone knows. I loved this band, really good and sounded very 'Beatle-ish'. Very entertaining and there is a short video clip of them on the 'Make a Brew Sue' Facebook page as I decided to 'Go Live' at the event, my first time so sorry for it being very wobbly. A nice rendition of 'Hey Jude' finished the set which had everyone singing.  

Oh we all like a bit of Freddie Mercury. This was a tribute known as Bulsara and he belted out all the Queen classics, very good 'sound a like' as well as looking the part too. He got the crowd singing and I think everyone joined in with Bohemian Rhapsody, how could you not? The local Mickleover residents were probably joining in as well, the rare few that hadn't ventured out. 

The Bootleg Bee Gees finished the evening in great style. I did feel a bit sorry for them though as people did start to leave early, maybe as the rain had kicked in a little or people just wanted to beat the traffic getting out of the car park. Even thought the audience had filtered out slightly they still produced those great disco numbers from Saturday Night Fever, you just can't help dancing to 'Night Fever' and 'Stayin Alive'. So many hits and some you never think are from the Bee Gees but they wrote a lot for other artists too. Great band and very entertaining. 

Overall a great day and very well organised, even from providing bin bags for all the rubbish. Everyone used them so there wasn't any rubbish to clear. There was plenty of food and drink available and facilities for children. Toilets were clean and not at all festival like. A few queues here and there but nothing to put you off coming bak and doing it all again next year, and I would. For the price of £10 we had a very entertaining and enjoyable day. If I had to criticise it at all it would just be about the sound. There were places in the crowd where it didn't come over very well and we couldn't hear all the acts clearly but it didn't spoil it. I suppose it depends on where you sat but it needs a good 'all round sound'.

Even the weather wasn't too bad, a little disappointing for summer and we did experience a bit of drizzle here and there but hey you can't guarantee the weather at all especially here in the UK. People were happy and didn't really care so well done to everyone involved. I hope it does return next year as I think everyone would definitely go back for more.
