.......Well it didn't go to who I thought it would!!! Oh my goodness, I think I would like a word with whoever made this decision. Sue from the Brew is on a rant......I'm feeling a bit tense, well I was this morning when I saw this tweet...... Now I loved the film Coco and reviewed it a while ago and I actually loved this song but for it to beat 'This Is Me' from The Greatest Showman, I do not think so. That song oozes so much passion it still gets me all emotional when I listen to it and believe me I have listened to it a million times. It's a song that says stuff it, this is me, I've been through a lot of stuff so take me as I am because I don't care anymore.....I am great!!. It has become such an anthem, an empowering chant and what I think will be the song of the year so why it didn't get the Oscar I have no idea.
Keala Settle performed 'This Is Me' at the Oscar ceremony yesterday with all her heart and even became emotional half way through, that's how it gets you, that's how it makes you feel, so I can only think that the award panel must have had an emotional bypass somewhere. I really thought it was in the bag. Oh never mind, I'm gutted and in my head I'm actually one of the non winners who have a camera stuffed in their face just as they have had their dream shattered. Oh yeah now I've got to clap and be happy. I'm sure we all are really and I am chuffed for anyone who wins an Oscar it's a great achievement, well done to the Coco team. I think anyone who has seen The Greatest Showman will have expected a win but it will still remain to me an amazing song and soundtrack. Another musical winner on the night was Best Music: Original Score for The Shape of Water. This is a truly beautiful score if you've not heard it. If you watched the BAFTAS a few weeks ago you would would have seen an opening performance by Cirque du Soleil to the music from this film and it was mesmerising. I've yet to see the film but from all the awards it's won it looks like it may be one to watch. Congratulations to all the winners from the actors and to everyone behind the scenes, the people who write the scripts, compose the music, create sound, lighting and those who are responsible for the wardrobe, make up and hair. You certainly realise what it takes to make a movie and I love to see all these people whose names you would only read at the end credits if you stay that long after a film. What do you think? Did 'Remember Me' deserve the win? Let me know your views. For now though take care of yourselves and join me gain tomorrow for Teapot Tuesday.
