Another earworm...

Yes it's that time again......I've been through Ravel's Bolero and All By Myself  was my last addiction but now I just cannot get this song out of my head. It is.....Time To Say Goodbye.

I'm not sure who's version I've got stuck in my brain but it's there, operatic, loud and proud. it's a funny one to have as an ear worm as most of it is in Italian so when I decide to sing it out loud I struggle slightly as my Italian, well it's a bit rusty to be honest. I think if I just stick a few 'macaronis' in there I may get away with it (sorry to all Italians). Suppose it's a slight improvement on Bolero as that one doesn't contain lyrics. I just hummed along to Bolero.

I'm fully there when singing Time To Say Goodbye - Con te Partiro, which means 'with you I leave' I'll have you know. I have my full on opera voice and complete diva attitude going on, I think I'm some sort of frustrated performer in my subconscious. It's quite sad really as I may have been an opera singer or more likely have been one in a past life.

That's probably what ear worms are, not just songs that stick in our heads but past long lost memories from another life. Woah!! Well wish it had shown itself earlier then I could have be earning royalties from it. No such luck eh?

Francesco Sartori did write the music and Lucio Quarantotto wrote the lyrics to this beautiful powerful song. It was brought to life by Andrea Bocelli originally and then in 1996 he duetted with Sarah Brightman topping the charts across Europe.

There have been many covers of this song and I'm still trying to decide which I love the most, I love Andrea's and Sarah's as it's so powerful but I do like the version by Katherine Jenkins too. Il Divo also have a great rendition of it as well as Russell Watson and Hayley Westenra, ooooh love a bit of Russell. So the jury's out on that one really. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them as it's just a classic song. It makes me well up with emotion if I'm honest and I would have to say it would have to go down as one of my all time favs.

That is probably why it's my latest ear worm - because I love it. So hey pretty little song, you stay there in my head if you like, there are worse songs that could be in there I can tell you.

Thanks for reading, let me know if this song is one you like, which version is your favourite? Let me know. For now though take and join me tomorrow for Teapot Tuesday.
