I can't believe it's been about two weeks now since I was in the Scottish Highlands, where does the time go? It was nice to go through my photos again be reminded of the yummy tea break we had at Fort George. They have a very nice tearoom there with cakes, sandwiches and light meals too. An array of refreshments and I had to have a brew here, oh ok I had a scone too but hey I was on holiday.
Fort George is a real working Fort with soldiers in, yes we saw real soldiers walking around and having to put up with some crazy English woman making headline for their brewing facilities. They were not in danger of being under attack but I was willing to take all their tea and cakes as hostage.
It is a really interesting place to see and most of the grounds are open to the public with information and museums to really get a insight into the history of the Fort. My son and I ventured to the outer fortress walls armed with binoculars and witnessed Dolphins swimming in the Moray Firth. What a sight and what an adventure, a bit of history, a brew and dolphins.....what more do you need?
Now I've had quite a brews in a lot of tearooms now but I think this may have been one of my favourites. I felt a sense of comfort and warmth drinking my brew with some of The Black Watch 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, I can honestly say that doesn't happen everyday.
We had a lovely time here and can definitely recommend it for a visit if you are up near Inverness. but obviously be on your best behaviour as these lads and lasses looked fun whilst having a tea break but I bet they can kick ass and I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of them all. I'm polishing my halo as I type (difficult to say) as I got out without too much trouble.....me trouble? Naaaaaaah.
Thanks for reading today, come back again, yes go on!! It's What to Buy Wednesday tomorrow so well worth a revisit. See you then and take care for now.
