This was the scene on Sunday evening, imagine the power going off in your house, nothing but silence and darkness. I wasn't actually phased by the fact I couldn't watch the results on Strictly or warm the pizza up I'd bought for dinner I was more concerned about the chances of ever having a brew again.
The electricity decided to go off while my youngest son was in the shower which was kind of funny, he wasn't too phased. I did expect swear words but I just got ' I'd finished anyway' as if he was talking to the power gods. We checked the obvious solutions but it needed to be passed to an engineer. Within the next 3 hours Sue from the Brew said the telephone operator so we buckled down to our waiting time with the basics. My son who has Autism read us numerous Thomas the Tank Engine stories, that kept him busy and my youngest just contemplated whether he had rinsed his conditioner out completely. It was a bit chilly with no heating and I needed the one thing that us British have in a crisis, yes the classic mug of tea. It is always there when you need it, to soothe you and in this case warm me blooming cockles, I was freezing'. It was a good decision to keep my whistling kettle and thankfully I have a gas hob. Phew!!! I got it lit and boiled up for a brew. Warm me it did and not long after that the engineer arrived and all was ok. I just managed to finish my tea and eat chocolate before he arrived, didn't want him thinking I was too comfy. We were back to normal (whatever that is) in no time. Thank you Mr Fix It Man. There are some times when the chips are down and you need some normality and something you can rely on.......that my friends is a nice warm brew!!! Thanks for reading today, stay safe and I will catch you tomorrow for Whatever Wednesday.
