Well ok, me a brew and a scone with butter a jam but I saw boats honest. This is because I visited Mercia Marina in Willington, Derbyshire. I love it when there is a gluten free scone on offer and I think they had the best tasting tea here. I shouldn't have had any sweet stuff but I do get excited when I see gluten free food. Everything was lovely here, so friendly and a very relaxed atmosphere.
I can't believe I've never been here before, it's a place that's been on my list of places to go but never got around to it, until now. The cafe we visited also houses a farm shop too so plenty of yummy food and drinks on offer to buy. The whole place had a good mix of shops including a ladies clothes shop, gifts, handbags and accessories (yes handbags!) and also a Beauty establishment where you can pamper yourself. There is a bar and restaurant for a light lunch or an evening meal. It just has everything, you can hire a narrowboat or go for a more organised boat trip. There is also the Mug Tug which is a boat permentley moored in the marina where anyone from 0-100 years can experience creative activities. There is wildlife around to see and more activities on offer. It literally is a fun place to be, nice at this time of the year but I bet it's even more fabulous when the fine weather comes along. There is a bit of construction work going on at the moment but they hope to have that completed very soon. This is expansion work so there will be more to see, oh crikey I'll have to go back. Yes!! Mercia Marina can be found on Findern Lane, Willington, Derbyshire. DE65 6DW and their website can be found here at: www.merciamarina.co.uk If you haven't taken a visit you really need to. I will definitely be returning, well there are handbags to purchase, oh and lots more tea to drink. Thanks for reading today, pop back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday. Take care for now.
