I was thinking the other day......I know - go steady eh Sue from the Brew!! What is the perfect strength of our brew? How we take our tea is a very personal thing, some people like it strong like builders brew and some like a quick dip of a tea bag and lots of milk.
Me? I'm somewhere in the middle really, not too strong that it hurts my throat and not too milky that you have to stop calling it tea. I'm one of those people that forgets it's brewing sometimes and before I know it I'm rushing in the kitchen like there's been some sort of emergency. Hold back, everyone out and evacuate the kitchen I have stupidly steeped for far too long. What do ya do though? Well one should chuck it away and start again but I have been known to pop the milk in and........ microwave it! Arrrghhhhhh I know, I vowed to myself that I would never ever microwave tea but I don't like waste. I have also been known to be so desperate for my brew that I can't wait for the three minutes or so needed to make the perfect brew and peaked too soon. This results in weak tasteless tea but hey it's wet and warm. Pah sacrilege......I should be sent to some sort of tea detention centre for even compromising on the brew time. There are those people that have their tea black and some herbal teas don't require milk. I spent ages with a posh herbal variety thinking 'milk or no milk. Ha ha it's like Shakespeare.....to milk or not to milk!! Then there's cream or milk oh this is just turning into a dilemma now......we've been through the skimmed milk decision and well you may as well not bother with that. I think a splash of semi skimmed and you're winning. just enough to give a nice light brown tea colour. One sugar or sweetener....oooooh lovely, I'm off to make one right now. How do you take yours? I love how we're all different in personality and tea making......would be a bit boring if we drank our tea all the same strength. I'll leave you with Premier Inn's chart of the perfect strength of tea. Have a great evening my lovely brewsters......I will be back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now take care.
