Are you having trouble sleeping? Well I think I may have the answer and it's all in the brew. I am sticking with Twinings again this week, but I know what you are thinking my little brewsters, I am flirting with the tea providers eh? You haven't seen anything, wait until I go to a Tea Festival in Derby taking place in a couple of weeks, I will be a Tea Tart!!.
So I tried a Sleep Superblend Tea from Twinings and have to say it was really nice. Now I'm not a great fan of camomile, I find it a bit......soapy to be honest but this is marvellous as the clever blenders at Twinings have added a bit of apple, vanilla and passionflowers in there too. I don't tend to be a big fruity tea drinker either but have taken to these mainly for the fact they have helped me relax and sleep a bit better. It may be a fluke a coincidence or complete load of nonsense but for me it does seem to work and I haven't slept, well since my children were born back in 2000. Actually come to think of it pre children I was out partying all night so I probably haven't slept since 1988. Well I seem to have some catching up to do, thanks Twinings (as I go and brew the whole twenty teabags), My other choice of the Superblend range was Matcha Green Tea with Cranberry and Lime. These are super refreshing and tangy with that added lime. It just feels good while drinking this. For those who don't know Matcha is a fine powder created from green tea and is an important part of Japanese culture. Together with the added flavours and manganese this all helps to contribute to a normal energy yielding metabolism. I know, I am going to be so healthy by the time I have drank all this tea, I just have to put away the biscuits and practice a bit more yoga then I'm good. Very nice range of tea, well done Twinings, there are more blends within the range such as:
Twinings have a 3 for 2 offer on their website, each pack contains 20 teabags for £2.69. For more information go to: www.twinings.co.uk If you have tried any of these please do let me know. For now though thank you for reading today, catch me again tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday. Take care.

I am loving these Cold Infuse bags from Twinings. They add a bit of excitement to your water bottle because it can get a bit boring with plain water all the time.
All you have to do is drop one of these bags into your water bottle for five minutes and let the flavour fuse out. They include natural ingredients, sugar free and are available in six really tasty flavours:
Wow, I may have to work my way through all of these as they all seem really refreshing. I have started with the Watermelon, Strawberry and Mint and can say it is really tasty. I wish I had found these when we had the heatwave earlier on in the year because one of these and loads of ice would have just been just what I needed. Nothing to stop me now really, we all need to keep hydrated and this is another way to enjoy water if you don't like it plain. There is no funny after taste like a lot of other products which include artificial sweetners and it's a subtle flavour as well not overpowering like a strong fruit juice. I purchased my pack from Tesco for £3.79 which includes 12 infusers in a plastic jar but the jar is recycleable. Well done Twinings for not only producing a nice product but for thinking about the packaging too. Give them a try and see what you think, I will certainly be trying more so I will keep you posted. Thank you for reading today, come back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now........ Take care. Yeah I know what your thinking......a brew with me would be with a mad hatter but no this is really a place called Mad Hatters. A lovely little tearoom in Findern, Derbyshire where I took it on myself and dragged my cousin along too for a spot of lunch.
I didn't visit this place when it was situated in Alvaston but apparently after a lot of public support it was saved and the owners moved Mad Hatters over to their new premises in Findern. It is nicely situated next to the canal where on a nice day you sit with a nice slice of cake and a brew and enjoy the fresh air. A popular place for walkers and cyclists passing by so the move seems to have been a great decision. It certainly has a nice comfy atmosphere and is decorated with a few pieces of Alice in Wonderland memorabilia including quite a few clocks so no chance of 'being late' for anything. I had a jacket potato with cheesy beans accompanied by salad and it was very very nice. The tea was so tasty and look at that teapot jug! How cool is that? I love that all the cups and saucers are mismatched, a lot of thought has gone into the decor and there is a nice cosy friendly atmosphere to the place. I really enjoyed it here and can see myself returning. I need to try cake.....what? I was so full from my lunch I couldn't fit any in but hey it gives me the excuse to go back. Nothing like a bit of a delay on dessert. If you would like some more information on Mad Hatters Tearoom they have a Facebook page here: www.facebook.com/madhatterstearoomderby/ Let me know what you think if you have been. I will be back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now...... eat cake, drink a brew and take care. I couldn't really go up to Scotland without buying some teabags eh? I did as well.....I caught sight of these Highland Blend teabags from The Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company. They taste really nice and after polishing off one box I had to buy another and bring them back home. I love that because I'm reminded of my holiday every time I have a Highland Brew.
These teabags are a mix of ceylon, assam and african teas blended in Edinburgh, so refreshing and not too strong. They are packed in individual packets with a string to infuse in your favourite cup, mug or dangle a bag in a fabulous teapot and away you go. I also bought some whisky teabags from the same company and if I'm honest I don't really get a taste of whisky at all. While up in the Highlands someone offered to make me a brew and just tip a proper whisky in it which I think would have been rather interesting. I mean I've had the Bailey's coffee but a whisky liqueur tea?? I may try it and let you know. Nice tea all the same and of course I'm not going to waste them but I can't taste anything that resembles whisky. Someone else might so if you see the do give them a go and let me know what you think. There is a nice selection of tea at The Edinburgh Tea and Coffee Company including Scottish Breakfast, Heather and Thistle tea bags too. If you would like more information they have a website with an online store at www.edinburghteacoffee.co.uk You can also buy these teabags and their loose leaf tea on Amazon too so I can still have a constant supply of this tea which is great because I thought I would have to be popping up to Inverness every so often to get supplies. That's not a bad thing as I love it up there but it's a very long way to go for a brew. I have had a look on their website and seen the most beautiful teapot on there.....oh if I had more shelf space I would......I think. This is getting as bad as my handbag addiction. I need blinkers....can you get those from Specsavers? I'll ask next time I go. You all take care now and I will be back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday.....join me then. I can't believe it's been about two weeks now since I was in the Scottish Highlands, where does the time go? It was nice to go through my photos again be reminded of the yummy tea break we had at Fort George. They have a very nice tearoom there with cakes, sandwiches and light meals too. An array of refreshments and I had to have a brew here, oh ok I had a scone too but hey I was on holiday.
Fort George is a real working Fort with soldiers in, yes we saw real soldiers walking around and having to put up with some crazy English woman making headline for their brewing facilities. They were not in danger of being under attack but I was willing to take all their tea and cakes as hostage. It is a really interesting place to see and most of the grounds are open to the public with information and museums to really get a insight into the history of the Fort. My son and I ventured to the outer fortress walls armed with binoculars and witnessed Dolphins swimming in the Moray Firth. What a sight and what an adventure, a bit of history, a brew and dolphins.....what more do you need? Now I've had quite a brews in a lot of tearooms now but I think this may have been one of my favourites. I felt a sense of comfort and warmth drinking my brew with some of The Black Watch 3rd Battalion, Royal Regiment of Scotland, I can honestly say that doesn't happen everyday. We had a lovely time here and can definitely recommend it for a visit if you are up near Inverness. but obviously be on your best behaviour as these lads and lasses looked fun whilst having a tea break but I bet they can kick ass and I wouldn't want to be on the wrong side of them all. I'm polishing my halo as I type (difficult to say) as I got out without too much trouble.....me trouble? Naaaaaaah. Thanks for reading today, come back again, yes go on!! It's What to Buy Wednesday tomorrow so well worth a revisit. See you then and take care for now. Well I had to visit at least one tearoom while I was away on my jolly holidays, only the one Sue from the Brew? Of course not but this cosy little place was just up the road from where we were staying. I know! Tea and cake just up the road....I was actually contemplating moving there.
The White Cottage Tearoom at North Kessock near Inverness was just delightful, beautiful tasty fresh food and such a friendly service too. We had lunch there so treated ourselves to jacket potatoes, a cheese sandwich a burger dish and potato cake with eggs benedict complete with fresh salmon. Yummy!!! I didn't eat all that myself, the full 'Family from the Brew' were with me It was absolutely gorgeous and there were cakes to but believe it or not I was so stuffed I couldn't eat anymore, even my dessert stomach was not coming out to play. They serve breakfast too so a great place to start your day while looking out over the Beauly Firth and possibly catch sight of a dolphin or two swimming past, yes they can be seen....but you have to believe first, it's like magic they only come to those who believe. We did catch sight of some further down in the Moray Firth, it's a beautiful sight if you get the chance. So if your passing through Kessock some time pop into the White Cottage Tea Room and have a brew, you won't regret it. let me know if you have been here, did you enjoy it? I actually missed this place last year when we visited and found out about it on our return this year. I can't believe I missed it before, I would of driven past it numerous times, must be losing my touch of sniffing out new tea places. I've put it right now. Phewwww! Thank you for reading today, join me again tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now take care. Cute isn't he? I went to see Pooh Bear in the new Disney film 'Christopher Robin. I had a brew and relaxed in the brand new recliner seats at our local Odeon. Ohhhhh they are fabulous......so comfortable I could have sat there all day, in fact I could have just waited for another movie to start.
I'm there with my feet up watching my film in 4K projection and super Dolby ATMOS sound, the Hundred Acre Wood has never looked so good. Tigger nearly bounded off the screen into my bag of minty Aero Bubbles but I fear he doesn't need anymore sugar, I certainly didn't. Very impressed with the seats, they are comfortable and there is loads of room, you don't have to worry about going to the loo if you're sat in the middle, nobody has to stand up to let you out. The sound however is really loud, not sure whether it's me who's a bit sensitive to too much loud noise but it is sometimes a bit unbearable. I find it a bit weird to say that I don't like loud noise after all the concerts I've been to but maybe it's my age. This movie was not so bad for the sound but I think if it was a super action film I may struggle. Some of the trailers really hurt my ears but that's super duper Dolby sound for ya. The film itself was adorable. I was a big fan of Winnie the Pooh as a little girl. My dad would read me a Pooh Bear story most nights and if I peered out of my bedroom the rest of the family would be sitting on the stairs listening to the story too, he was that good!!! Still is I must admit but not had a bedtime story from him for a while. I still have the books now, they are in my bedroom never to be removed and will never see a charity bag as long as I'm alive. So to see Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, Rabbit, Kanga and Roo come alive on the big screen was a dream come true for me and they looked and sounded exactly as I wanted them to. I thought Ewan McGregor was a great match for a grown up Christopher Robin with his grumpy exterior but then that softy interior shines through and he becomes that playful lad again. to the delight of Pooh and his mates. I loved how he was passing his adventures and his memories down to his daughter Madeline just as I was sitting there watching this film with my mum and both my sons. I looked around the cinema and the little ones were shouting Pooh's name, really enjoying it and there it goes again passed down to another generation. Like Thomas the Tank Engine, Pooh Bear will go on forever. Ewan McGregor has done well for himself, not only does he get to play childhood hero Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars but he gets to play another childhood idol in Christopher Robin. He is just becoming the symbol to my younger years apart from being a blooming nice guy. A lovely brew out with family watching a nice family film.......just perfect. if you've seen it what did you think? Have you tried the new recliner seats out too? Do let me know. For now though you take care but do come back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday...... Bye for now. Never did I think I would be on a secret mission to have afternoon tea but I did accept the mission and got the job done. It was no job only sheer heaven and a pleasure to have taken part. I mean look at these photos of what was a very tasty tea.
There were sandwiches galore accompanied by scones, muffins, cakes and macarons. An abundance of tea and coffee were on offer and in full flow.....a continuous brew......a never ending teapot. The food tasted beautiful with some nice flavours combined together, classic scones with cream and jam and also cakes infused with tea. I loved the teapots, teacups and plates as they were so quaint and classy, a real tea party look. There were even gluten free treats available so someone really knows about dietary requirements.....hurray!!! So where was this piece of heaven? Well it's a secret......Rachael's Secret Tearoom is 'somewhere' in the picturesque Derbyshire countryside and Racheal welcomes you into her place. A few of us Rockies (Rock Choir members) all got together and had a great afternoon of eating, drinking, having a laugh and a natter. It's just perfect for a get together or maybe a little party for a special occasion. We were so well looked after and kept topped up with tea which is very important. Rachael is now the goddess with a plethora of teapots so I may visit her again......if she lets me. If you would like some information on Rachael's Secret Tearoom go to www.rachaelssecrettearoom.co.uk there is also a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/RachaelsSecretTeaRoom/ Just take a look at what you could eat and drink......your mouth will be watering and then you'll just give in and you too will join the secret club.......go on take a look now!!! Let me know if you've already visited Rachael's or has she catered for you special event? How did it go? Thank you to Rachael and my fellow Rockies for such a lovely afternoon, going here was such a fabulous idea. Thank you to you too for reading today. Please do pop back tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now....... Take care.
Along time ago I fell in love......oh sounds like the start of a proper love story doesn't it? It is really as I did become very fond of the Lemon Iced Tea at Costa. Well guess what? They only stopped selling it!! How rude! They sell the peach flavour but I don't Peach I want Lemon.
This only meant one thing........I would just have to make my own. Now I knew they made it from tea (not rocket science), they added ice and a slice of lemon, then I just couldn't for the life of me think what was missing. I loved the fact it was quite sweet and tried sweetener and sugar but it just wasn't right. Then I remembered, it had lemon syrup in it so off I popped onto Amazon (of course) to look for some syrup. Behold, as my son likes to say at the moment. There were many bottles of lemon syrup but I ordered this Sweetbird one as I've ordered this brand before in the coffee syrups. They are a bit pricey these big bottles of syrups but I do try to make them last. Famous last words......make it last? With the amount of tea I drink? Oh well wishful thinking or maybe I'm just trying to find my thrifty sensible head. Now it was complete. I would just make a lemon tea, let it cool, add ice a slice and some lemon syrup.......perfect and what I save in Lemon Iced Tea at Costa I can buy more lemon syrup. Hurrah!!! It is also so refreshing in this warm weather, a great alternative if you don't fancy a warm brew. Here is the link (affiliated) to the Sweetbird Lemon Syrup at Amazon..... Thank you so much for reading today, please do come on back for What to Buy Wednesday tomorrow.......but for now take care. I like to drink tea for a bit of a boost, it makes me feel good. The first brew of the day right to the last just gives me relaxation that not even Paul McKenna could give me with his hypnotic powers.
So what if you could have your brew with with a real boost of vitamins to make you feel great? Well you can as Tetley have a fabulous range of super teas. No they don't come with a little cape around the teabags but they do have a good selection of vitamins to give you just what you need to get through the day. There is tea for fatigue, the heart, a detox, for beauty, the immune system and sunshine in a cup to boost your vitamin D levels and many more. What a fantastic idea. Not only can we feel content when having a brew we can actually reap some health benefits, beats taking a tablet. I have tried the Boost Super Everyday Tea with Vitamin B6 to help me with any tiredness or fatigue and it is quite good. It has a nice taste and gives you a nice boost. Some of the super teas are available in refreshing fruity flavours too, even exotic fruits for a healthy mind. So if you fancy a boost head over to........... www.tetley.co.uk/all-drinks/super-tea and take a look at their range. For some reason the everyday tea pictured here doesn't appear on this link but it is available in Morrisons so check out the details on their website here: groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/Tetley-Super-Tea-Boost-20s/330156011 Let me know what you think if you have tried any of these teas. Have you got the boost you need or have they turned out a bit wishy washy? Can you tell any difference from a regular brew? Do check out the ingredients on some of these teabags as for some reason they contain wheat. So if you are on a gluten free diet you may have to seek advice before brewing. Thank you for reading today. Join me again tomorrow for What to Buy Wednesday but for now take care. |
