For most of the year I'm thinking it's so quiet on the Shetland Islands, I imagine it to be so serene, the scenery is stunning, population not huge and a low crime rate. Well that is until someone goes and upsets that for a tv series and suddenly the place comes alive, not with the sound of music but with murder!!!
Did you see the surprise on everyone's faces when they were told not to get too comfortable as there had been a body discovered on the beach? It was like, woah we're on tv, let's go. Following the pattern of other crime drama programmes this year so far the body wasn't complete, yes there have been more chopped up bodies this year than I have ever seen before. I bet when strangers turn up on Shetland they are closely watched because there is a slim chance they may be murdered or found dismembered somewhere especially if being followed by a tv crew. To be fair though it has started out to be a brilliant series once again. Douglas Henshall is giving that moody look again, I think I've seen him smile a few times but not often. I'm sure when Christmas comes around he does crack a smile when opening his pressies and at the surprise of an amazing treat from a Christmas cracker. I quite like his character as he fits the storylines well, I can't imagine a jolly, happy go lucky crime solver with too much energy....that's for other crime dramas. Don't be mislead as it's never the person you think it is that's the culprit so keep an open mind if you have never watched it before. Where have you been if you've not seen Shetland before? Helping solve crime on the busy mainland? No Shetland is where all the action is, take a catch up and you'll see, it's never boring on these beautiful Scottish islands. Hey we saw the end of Cold Feet then this week. Blimey all the way through I just kept shouting 'for goodness sake everyone stop being so miserable and be happy for them'. I thought for a minute they were going to bin their relationship because of everyone not liking it but thank goodness they didn't. Yes it was a lot to get everyones heads around but they are both single and not doing any harm. I am of course talking about Adam and Karen getting together and I know it's not real but in Cold Feet world it's totally as real as real life. A brilliant end to the series and I will miss it so much, just hope it comes back again. It has to surely, we need to know how this relationship is going to go on and we need to see how Jenny goes on with her treatment. Please important people at ITV, bring it back. I need a strong brew to prepare for more tv this week especially another episode of Shetland. Just as you think you are about to watch a nice travel programme showing you around Shetland.....No don't be fooled, there's murder in them hills, mountains, ship yards and factory places. Have a great week and if you love music I will be back tomorrow for Music Monday so join me then. Take care for now.

Oh if you've not watched Cold Feet this week turn away now because I have mega spoilers..........
It's happening....it really is! I thought they might drag this out a little more but I couldn't believe it when Karen returned to Adam. I was so willing her to turn back from the vicar....''no don't go with him' I shouted, 'it's Adam you really have feelings for' and darn me there she was. I cheered as she got out the taxi and that kiss, well it's sealed now. How is this all going to pan out though, with family? David? Yikes it's going to be a great final episode. Yes it's the last in the series this coming Monday, my nights will never be the same. I just hope it makes another return as I do think it is actually my favourite TV show of all time. I got my other wish too, gosh maybe I should have done the lottery this week. The GC went out of Dancing on Ice and about bloomin' time though she did accept it was her time to go. Now we can get down to some serious competition stuff. The strong celebs will start to shine through now and it's looking good for a few of them. I loved Saara Aalto's skate this week and I think she was really underscored there. I thought it was beautiful but I suppose I'm not a professional and not looking at it from a technical point of view but still I think it was a bit unfair. Who do I think will go this week? Well I think it will be Ryan Sidebottom this week as he has been in the skate off a few times and isn't as strong as the others but I think Jane Danson and Brian McFadden may be in trouble too. Let's see eh? I wish Brian could just muster up that confidence a bit as I think he could push through. It's a shame to see him struggle because when he takes it seriously he seems to do really well but I do think his nerves let him down. Blimey mine would too.....I would be a nervous wreck having to do what they do every week, respect to all of them even for Gemma for giving it a go. See I can be nice. Well onto a new week and we will lose some programmes as they finish but gain new ones too so more to watch and I'm sure there will be a few films this week on tv as we go into half term. Yes the kids are off school, time to veg in front of a classic like Toy Story. I did watch that yesterday and funnily enough found myself on my own watching it. My sixteen year old came down and said 'Mum you do realise you're watching Toy Story?' I must have watched it a million times and was hooked like it was the first time but it is such a good movie you can watch it over and over again.....even us adults. You all take care now and I will be back tomorrow for Music Monday. Bye for now and enjoy your viewing. Ok the blood around my body boils now and again but it tends to do it more while watching Dancing on Ice. Someone literally needs to put their glasses on and see that Gemma Collins is not really skating. She spent most of her last routine standing still. She may be a big personality and a lovely girl, I'm not disputing that but when it comes to being realistic she shouldn't really be going through any further in this competition.
The trouble is she has so much support and there are some people who will vote her through just to protest against the show. Frankly if you don't like Dancing on Ice then go and watch something else, and of course there will be people voting the GC through just to get on the nerves of people like me who want to see it all done properly. This isn't a personality contest it's a skating competition and there are other celebs who are working much harder. Doubt she's win a personality contest either but I'll stop now. Phew....blimey Sue from the Brew calm down......it's only a tv programme.....I know but take away that public vote ha that will do it. Ok so what else happened this week? Well I've had to work hard to catch on some tv as I've been a busy girl and frankly been so tired and zonked out as soon as hit the sofa. I've also had a cold the week, I know ahhhhh but I've carried on like a trooper. Silent Witness has finished now and so nearly did The Lyle, I thought for a minute there that Dr Alexander was going to have to resign and the old place would shut down but no she came back fighting. Fancy someone swapping your heart around in the mortuary, that was not good. It started to dawn on me that it was the new girl, you almost do that thing of wanting to shout at the telly just to make them aware, ok that's just me but it becomes like a pantomime......'she's right at the side of you printing your reports off!!!' A great series and looks like there will be more but for now I just need a rest from the deceased for a while. Cold Feet continues to take me happy but obviously a little sad too with the storyline at present. Fay Ripley plays her part so well and it is a story which has touched or is touching a lot of peoples lives and I think this is where this programme is so good. It tends to take a lot of life events and important topics and put them out there in such a dramatic but dignified manner. It is really my favourite time of the week as not only are we crying at times there is also laughter too and that's life. Will someone please help David though, it's breaking my heart to see him in trouble. He could reach out to anyone and they would help, I would even have him at mine if I had room. Is Adam holding a flame for Karen and just hiding behind a little fling with the Welsh stunner Eve Myles. I am not sure what is going on there but I'm sure we'll find out. Wow...would never have put Adam and Karen together but now I thinking hey maybe. I think he loves her.....but she's getting close to the vicar.......oh heck. I won't have long wait till the next episode but I bet they do that thing where they leave me in suspense on the last show of the series and I have to wait for a whole year to see what happens next. Oh please don't do that to me!! Right then I am off to do some more busy stuff on a Sunday, enjoy your week of tv and I will be back to Pass the Remote again next Sunday. If you want to read more before that though I am back tomorrow for Music Monday so join me then. Take care for now. We all love a game show or a tv quiz don't we? It keeps the brain active and tests us on our knowledge or maybe lack of it. I love them I do, my ultimate favourite has to be The Chase....yeah your either a Chase or Pointless fan as they are on tv at the same time.
I just like the whole format of The Chase and Bradley Walsh is a great presenter. I can never answer the questions quick enough though in the cash builder. I would probably only answer one and get £1000 because I would be still thinking about the answers to the other questions. One thing I cannot stand about this show though is when a contestant is offered a bit of an easy way out and the Chaser offers a minus amount of cash to get through. I shout at the tv as that money comes off the team amount so if you have a team of four and the previous three members have built up say £10,000 and the last contestant takes a minus figure of £2000 then thats someone else's cash you're losing. No sorry I do not like that, though in some instances it has helped a team and they have gone onto win the money in the final chase so it can be a good tactic. Love the Chasers too, I like it when the contestants are faced with them, oooooh the pressure. I also like that this part of the quiz is multiple choice, now I've always liked the multiple choice option even in my exams at school. Well the answer is there, staring at you, bit tricky though if you have no idea but hey give it your best guess. If you haven't watched The Chase you need to be around at 5pm and tuned into ITV or grab it on catch up. I do like a bit of Mastermind as well. I feel this tests me a bit further, it's the step before moving onto University Challenge but I'm not ready to go there yet. I get a bit stuck on the first round, I feel I can't join in with that one too much as it's the specialised subject and unless you've revised the subject as much as they have then it's a bit tricky. The general knowledge round though....woah, love a go at that and I like the 'I've started so I'll finish' the question because I like to finish it off properly. So many quiz shows just finish the round with an unanswered question and that just frustrates me, especially if they don't tell you what the answer would have been. There are so many game shows on tv now, new ones pop up like BBC's The Time It Takes which is presented by Joe Lycett, not sure I can get into that in a big way but it is quite entertaining. Then there are ones which were newbies and have now earned quite a big regular favourite spot such as Tipping Point which I do like too. it's the old classic penny machine from the arcades but with questions, brilliant idea!! It is good when these shows also have celebrity specials, they play for charities which I think is nice but I just like to see how brainy they are. You also learn a little more about people when you see them quizzing which I think is nice. You kind of build up support for people and want them to get through and win, not that I'm at all competitive but I do cheer a little when the team out runs The Chaser, woo hoo!! Well I'm off to swat up and get ready for the next game show. I'll be ready for University Challenge one day but for now I'll just stick to taking on my own personal battle with The Chaser, come and have a go if you think you're clever enough. Thanks for being here today, join me again tomorrow for Music Monday but for now...... Take care. |
