Watch these little sleepy seaside towns!

Well I had to leave the quiet isles of Shetland this week as the series ended in true style. I love Shetland, it's just brilliant, it follows one story and I didn't realise so much could happen on these islands. The plot goes so many different ways and you end up suspecting everyone before realising the one person who you didn't suspect is in fact the culprit.

I've been all around the island, even jumped off for a while as Perez had to go and fetch his daughter from university to keep her safe. We have seen a few locals and visitors knocked off and bodies floating in the sea so it's all happened up there. You can never guess though with all the twists and turns but I do like how they come to a conclusion in the end and everything makes sense. I'm never left too confused with his programme and it usually gets a happy ending.

If you have never watched Shetland, well give it a go as I think it's one of the best crime drama's around. You can catch up on the BBC iplayer and besides all the blood and murder there is some absolutely stunning scenery. All quiet on the Scottish isles, well it seems not. Everyone can rest now though as Perez and his team have brought order to Shetland and it's safe now but for how long?

I went from Shetland over to Morecambe Bay to see what was happening in the first of a new police drama series called The Bay. I wasn't quite sure about this to be honest, I was left feeling a bit flat and not very impressed. Some people are comparing this to Broadchurch probably because of the storyline involving two missing children and it has that same feel but I don't think it will be as good.

The first programme has caused a bit of a stir with the public and the main character DS Lisa Armstrong played my Morven Christie has already come under some criticism. She's driven with a hangover so possibly still over the limit, used her mobile phone while driving and deleted crucial evidence.

The thing that people need to remember though is that it isn't real and she isn't a real police woman. The writers are just building up the story so you get an idea to the background of her character and yes she isn't a great copper at the moment but will she be? Don't take it too seriously is my advice, it's not a true story!. A good plot though with the storyline and although I wasn't grabbed entirely by the first one I may stick it out and watch another just to give it a chance. 

It may be one of those dramas that has an iffy start and turns out to be brilliant and also I kind of need to know where these kids have gone, no spoilers but we know about one but who is responsible for the mess that is emerging. I think it's going to be another one of those 'it's not who you think' cases again. If you want to give it and try you need to be watching ITV on Wednesday evenings at 9pm or go to the ITV Hub and catch up.

You could say DS Armstrong is such a bad police woman that she would need to be investigated by the Line of Duty team well that series returns next Sunday (31st) and I can't wait. I love Line of Duty and what a great treat for Mother's Day. We will see The Durrells return soon for the final series which I am also looking forward and I will be perched by the box this evening for another series of Victoria. 

For now though I am going to grab a brew and calm down after trying to solve so many murders. We'll chill out tomorrow with a bit of music natter on Music Monday but for now you grab your brew too and take care.
