It's been a bit of a charity clash this week on our tv's. It was the annual Comic Relief event which had a very successful evening on Friday raising a massive amount of money so well done to everyone involved with that.
It's very much a personal thing with these big charity nights and events, some support more than others and we can't support them all. Comic Relief does help some great projects and more now in the UK so it is a good all round event which gives everyone the chance to help a lot of people, be it here in the UK or overseas. For me though my heart kind of belongs to Stand Up To Cancer at present on the old box. Yes they have started the Celebrity Bake Off to raise money and it's got off to a great start. There are some excellent celebrities taking part, most of which I have heard of which is good and if you haven't seen the first two episodes then you must go on the iplayer and have a catch up. I know everyone isn't a fan of Russell Brand but I really like him, he was so funny in the first episode last week and just totally entered into he whole thing. He was really good and looked like a star baker, did he get it though?.....Na not telling ya. I just couldn't get over John Lithgow being there as well, I mean that man is a huge Hollywood movie star and one of the best actors ever and there he is in the Bake Off kitchen!! This week saw Michelle Keegan and Rylan Clark-Neal battle it out or the top spot and it was quite close there for a moment. I love how they all start to get very competitive. The sports personalities who take part tend to relax and have a bit of fun and it would be them that you would expect to be going for the bake off pinny but no the others get a real battle going. Then there is the celebs who try their hardest but bless them, I think they come along hoping for maybe, for just a pity handshake from Mr Hollywood. It doesn't matter though....it's all for charity. I'm really looking forward to seeing more and hoping that it will raise so much cash for Stand Up To Cancer. I think we have all been affected in some way by cancer, whether it's been someone you know or has happened to you. Please give the Bake Off's a watch and if you can manage a donation that would be great. Stand Up To Cancer funds research, which takes developments in the labs and accelerates them into brand new tests and treatments for cancer patients who need them. Taken from the Stand Up to Cancer website - for more information go to www.standuptocancer.org.uk So that's my pick of the week, the next episode is on Tuesday evening Channel 4 at 8pm so don't forget. One in two of us will be affected by cancer, that is a shocking statistic so we need to do as much as possible. Right I am off to work through another week, I will be back tomorrow for Music Monday but for now you take care.
