Wow what a week of new drama. and it all started with Strangers last Monday evening. The brilliant John Simm stars as Jonah Mulray who is a Professor going along his normal daily life when tragedy hits and his wife, played by Dervla Kirwan is killed in a car crash in Hong Kong. He flies out there to identify her body and unravels a secret double life which his wife has been living, unbeknown to him.
Sally Porter played by Emilia Fox, the British Second Secretary based at the British Embassy in Hong Kong becomes his only contact and friend. He soon comes to depend on her to grab information and try and understand the shocking truth about his wife. It was fantastic and I was glued to this. Not only has it got a brilliant cast, it got you on the edge of your seat. I wasn't expecting this plot at all as I hadn't read too much about the series before it started. I said a lot of 'omg's' and 'woah's' and honestly cannot wait until the next one on Monday. The next drama started on BBC2 on Wednesday night called Trust. This is a drama based on real events following the Getty family. Blimey I never knew much about the Getty's at all really, they were very wealthy but not happy eh? In fact they didn't like each other much at all, the only people who did get on were all John Paul Getty Seniors girlfriends. Donald Sutherland did play him well though I thought. Best not to ask grandad for money though as you never know when you might get kidnapped and no one believe it all. Yikes! You can carry on watching all 10 episodes on iplayer but I may just wait and watch it week by week. Interesting drama, really liked it and I like learning more about people. Certainly very colourful in the Getty household. One drama I couldn't wait to see more of was Killing Eve. Oh my goodness, this is one to watch!! After the first episode last night I just couldn't stand the suspense and I've just binge watched it all today. It is absolutely brilliant. Am I raving enough about it yet? I may never shut up. Eve played by Sandra Oh is a MI5 security officer and bored with her job until she starts to investigate Villanelle a complete psychopathic killer and professional assassin. They take on a cat and mouse type of trip, both having an obsession about each others movements and lives. This leads to threats to friends and family along the way and a lot of dead bodies. This is one of those series that when you get to the end of one episode you just need to carry on to see what happens next. It's fast moving, keeps you interested and just great drama. Jodie Comer is Villianelle and you may recognise her from being the other woman in Doctor Foster. She is joined by stars such as Fiona Shaw from The Harry Potter movies and Kim Bodnia who starred in The Bridge if you watched that. The series originally aired in America and was so popular there, people raved about it and I can see why. The end is left for a possible second series which would be so good!! Give it a watch......it's so addictive. So a lot to keep tabs on and keep watching. Bodyguard carries on tonight and we will see Strictly start properly next Saturday so get your glitter out and and get ready to dance around your living room. This is the countdown to Christmas (oops had to mention it). Thank you for reading today, join me again tomorrow for Music Monday but for now take care.
