It's getting to that time again in The Voice where the blind auditions are coming to an end soon and then the battles begin. The judges are getting closer to their limit of ten team members and it's beginning to show. They all start to get cautious and so they should as 'the one' they are looking for may be part of the last few to auditions. This makes it so hard on the people auditioning at this stage as earlier on in the show they may have got through but now, no chance.
Seems so unfair and I really feel for everyone auditioning in these late stages. There were a couple last night which I wanted to see go through and one which Jennifer put through and I thought 'what the heck' but hey she's the expert. I think it gets to Olly as he would just like to take everyone on, he makes me laugh but I think he's actually portraying what we are feeling here at home on our couches. It must be frustrating for the judges too.
We said goodbye to Vera this week, not forever as she'll be back and I can't wait. A great series and my Sunday's will seem empty without her and Aidan sorting the odd murder out. I've just got to the point where I've trained myself to stay awake and stop nodding off now and also I've taken to guessing the murderer as well. I'm not very successful which is probably while Vera is in charge and I'm just a viewer.
The last one of Kiri got everyone talking. I'm not giving anything away but it ended very bizarre. It has been a great drama and has included some fantastic acting but it just seemed as though everyone got fed up and just ended it when I think most people would have liked to have seen it go to a more neater ending. Oh well, maybe it's left it open for another series but in my opinion some of these dramas don't need to go on, sometimes I just want to watch a one of drama with a beginning, middle and end. I don't want to go through a million seasons of it, depends on the drama really. Anyway we'll see what happens.
Silent Witness was quite a tough watch this week as it was based around behaviour within a residential home. This brought in a magnificent storyline including Clarissa in a more central role. It was emotional, very well acted and dealt with in a realistic but sensitive way too. Hats off to everyone involved. A hard to watch but great couple of episodes. Needs to be seen me thinks.
Right well on to another week and now we've lost some programmes I'm sure we'll gain some new stuff so I will be back to chat about it all next Sunday. If you like your music though please join me tomorrow evening for Music Monday. For now though......
Yes it's back, after a 3 year absence Dancing on Ice as been revamped with a new format for 2018. I am so happy, I was gutted to see this finish as it was a good show. The new show is quite good, not yet convinced as good but we've only seen one show so far and we never get used to change straight away I suppose. I liked the old rink as it seemed a lot bigger and I miss Karen Barber, especially the banter she had with fellow judge Jason Gardiner. Jane Torvill and Christopher Dean are now judges and not skating this year which I also miss, but I suppose the work was too much really and they needed a rest.
I'm sure it will be a big hit again but I do worry slightly when they bring some shows back as although I didn't want to see it end, was it best left where it was? Time will tell.
Vera returned last Sunday too complete with hat, mack, landrover and also with Aiden back alongside her. I love their partnership, they are so funny together, even when they are trying to be serious. It's a good chemistry between them both. Sometimes I think two hours is along time for one show and wish they would split it into to parts, only because I get comfy and fall asleep on the sofa, thank goodness for catch up. It does flow quite well and I can get impatient in wanting to know 'who did it' as soon as possible. Looking forward to another episode tonight. I will try and stay awake!!
Silent Witness was back this week, you see they split that in two parts don't they? I didn't nod off either, well you can't really otherwise you miss vital information. This is serious forensic evidence I need to be keeping up with and there is no time for snoozing when they have a body to dissect. Good to see Nikki back after being buried alive in the last series but she always has me in a nervous disposition when she's going off investigating. I'm shouting at the tv for her to be careful and not get caught. Great start to the new series and looking forward more of this.
I watched the new drama Kiri starring Sarah Lancashire. This is quite a hard watch as it involves a little girl called Kiri who goes missing and is eventually found murdered. Sarah plays the social worker involved in Kiri's case as she allowed an unsupervised visit with the girls grandparents and while in their care, she went missing. It's believed Kiri's biological father may be involved somehow but we will see more in the next episode. It has come under a lot of criticism as it's seen to be portraying social services in a bad light with Miriam's (Sarah Lancashire) drinking and other behaviour taking the brunt of most comments but I saw her playing a very dramatic role just as Sarah does, with such great talent. I'm gripped by it so far so will see it to the end and review it again later.
On to a much lighter note and singing notes at that with the new series of The Voice. I'm liking Olly Murs as the new judge and he certainly brought a bit of entertainment to this weeks show. He was completely bowled over by one of the contestants and it was so funny to see him blushing. He didn't know what to do with the girl did he? That's going to be interesting to watch. I think he may literally have his hands full there.
Sir Tom Jones is just pure class when he spontaneously sings for the audience. I love it and him too. A great bit of Saturday entertainment and there is some really good talent here, I think it's the best talent type show on tv in my opinion, bring on next week.
Another busy week eh? Thank you so much for reading today. if you like music I will be back tomorrow with Music Monday, until then......
