Life
What do we want from life? Health, happiness, security, a husband or a wife Children to carry on a generation or solitude to allow for exploration Whatever our need we endeavour to succeed So what if life doesn't quite go to plan it seems a disaster, a 'flash in the pan' At times we may struggle and have many things to juggle But fight on we will to find hope and goodwill There may be dark times tragedy through unbelievable crimes Heartache, loss and grief a period of disbelief But with bravery, strength and determination a little help from the fellow population The path we will find and leave these bad times behind For we will never forget the people who have passed the memories will live on and forever to last The sirens they will fade happy dreams to be made The stars will shine brighter from now on beacons of love to base our futures upon So don't be afraid carry on with those plans you have made Try not to give into an obstruction look to the angels for instruction The answer will be around a white feather on the ground We need to rebuild lives to be filled Lessons to be learnt and maybe bridges to be burnt We go forward with hope and determination to be a world where peace has no limitation Let that light shine through some mistakes we can undo Reach up to those stars let life have no bars For we can make it if we try life is for living, let the angels fly high Thank you for reading...

Last week my youngest had a brace fitted to his teeth. At the ripe age of fourteen now, we gathered all the information about it and he had a big think about what he wanted to do. I gave the decision to him as he would have to live with it and care for it (sounds like the ownership of a pet) but the ultimate decision was to be his. So he decided to go for it and have the brace fitted. It seemed to take ages to have it actually put on and he was more patient than I would have been.
The first week was quite stressy as not only had he got to get used to it being there, it made his teeth slightly sensitive and he could only eat very soft foods. All he ate in the first few days was soup and yogurts. We had yogurts in every form possible, drinkable, in tubes and mousse, custard with added jelly. It was frustrating for him but now a week on it's a different story really. He's had to give up eating and drinking some things but to be honest that's not a bad thing, wouldn't recommend it for a dietary option though. He is now back to eating more solid things and feeling a lot more relaxed about it. I thought I would share this just in case anyone else was thinking about braces or going through a similar situation. I realise it may be back to square one when he has his regular seven week appointment to tighten it up again but he's aware of it now and that 'it's all going to be just fine' . So that's what I named my verse for today on this very subject........I wrote it not long after he had the fitting. It's all gonna be just fine....... Someone I know had a brace fitted this week a mouthful of metal from cheek to cheek The teeth they will straighten in about two years, that's what they reckon It's all gonna be just fine Ok now it's on the tough hard chewy food has all gone For it's all soft stuff now that's all these metal teeth will allow But it's all gonna be just fine Doesn't feel it right now I don't think if it was removable it would be in the drink Frustrating is what it is biscuits, crisps an hairbos is what is missed But everything is gonna be fine It's sensitive and tight I think, at first at times he probably wishes it could be reversed But battle he does and now and again cracks a smile for us Yeah...it's all gonna be just fine It must be a pain but straight teeth he will gain More food he will eat and discomfort he will beat He is.....gonna be just fine And it is just fine, all the worry and stress at the beginning have gone now. He's in a routine with cleaning it and is biding by all the instructions he's been given. I'm very proud the way he has dealt with it and coped. So don't be worried if you are facing braces and if your a parent of a child needing braces just remember........try not to worry (easily said I know) ....It's all gonna be just fine. If you want to ask any questions or need to know anything just leave a comment and I'll try and help. Thanks for reading you beautiful people, catch you tomorrow for Free From Friday! Woo, get me and my girlie fingernails. I can never usually grow my nails, they either break easily or I just get fed up and cut them. Even now I'm typing and thinking whether they are gonna to last as they just get in the way slightly. They tend to over power the finger tip and my fingertip gets very busy especially typing on my phone but we'll see. Some ladies have theirs really long and I'm always wondering how they cope.
I've never been a lady nail type of girl really, I don't go in for the false ones and have never visited a nail bar or had any sort of manicure but might have a go one day, just never felt it necessary. So it's Verse for Thursday and I decided while I was popping a bit of nail polish on I would write a poem. Obviously I wrote it about half an hour after my nails were dry. The 60 second polishes are bit vague, there is one thing, mine didn't dry in 60 seconds!! Anyway here goes, hope you like it......... Proper Lady Nails I'm putting on nail polish would you believe something my nails don't often receive They are usually brittle and broken cut short as a token But I am now the owner of proper lady nails Oh what colour should I apply? clear, pink or red to glorify It usually ends up all over the place not very patient you see so may need to replace But I am the owner of proper lady nails I can't be doing with those plastic ones stuck on with glue we already have one nail, so why have two? They may not last long but to me they belong I am the owner of proper lady nails I will probably end up cutting them all short and the lady look I'll have to abort I'm not used to it you see and in the way they may be But.....I can say I WAS the owner of proper lady nails Thanks for reading and please come back tomorrow for a bit of gluten free fun on Free From Friday. Take care for now......... Going to the seaside at the weekend brought back some great memories as a child when we would all pack the car up and pop off for our summer holiday. There would be suitcases packed to the max with all we needed. Games to keep us occupied on our journey, no ipads or mobile phones back then. We had to rely on a conversation or to look at the view. In my experience I had to look at the view and watch where I was going in the car otherwise my head would be down the bottom of a plastic carrier bag being sick. Great times and some lovely memories........
There will be sun, sea and sand they said We'll have a lovely weekend away they said As much candy floss you can eat they said When our folks took us away to the seaside You'll love the hustle and bustle of the amusements they said Hot doughnuts made while you wait they said There's even a train that travels on the sand they said When our folks took us away to the seaside A ride on a donkey will be fun they said Building sandcastles with a watery moat they said Eating sticks of rock but mind your teeth they said When our folks took us away to the seaside That sea air it may make you hungry they said So fish and chips we'll order by the crate they said For dessert you can have ice cream with TWO flakes in they said When our folks took us away to the seaside We'll make the most of the day, start early they said Sat in a traffic jam for an hour, a game of I-spy they said I do hope we don't breakdown they said When our folks took us away to the seaside Have you wiped your sticky fingers and emptied shoes full of sand they said With us packed like sardines in the car, soon be home they said In a dream I'm sure I heard we'll do it again next year they said When our folks took us away to the seaside Thanks for reading - catch you tomorrow for Free from Friday......... |
