Do you ever get those days when you can feel a sore throat coming on, your nose tingles and you think you're on the way to having a cold but then it doesn't turn into anything. It just lies dormant, teasing you into thinking you are going to be miserable, snotty and with an annoying tickly cough.
I just hate it when my immune system can't decide what to do. Are we letting this one in boys? Maybe not then and it decides to kick the colds ass. Today is National Poetry Day, the theme being freedom and so I give you my poem about my non existent cold, maybe it's delayed or it may be a post flu jab reaction. Freedom from a Cold Are you going to be a cold or what? And turn my nose into a mass of snot I'm feeling really achey and also a little shakey Cold, show yourself or kindly go away My throat it feels like sandpaper my perfume has turned into a menthol vapour Strepsils that stick to your fingers the lemony taste, oh how it lingers Am I having this cold or what? I'm stuck in mid fever not ill but not well either I can feel the suspense is it real or just pretence Be a cold or please go away Maybe I shouldn't really moan my nose has not got to be blown I'm carrying on as I should hang on that's really good I may not have a cold after all I was jabbed with a flu vaccination could be that, a little reaction They said a fever I could expect and probably feel a little effect That would make sense of it all I may be just good at being immune it will all go away very soon no cold to be had got away with it - not bad Atchoooo..... oh famous last words I hope you enjoyed that and I would just like to say whether you're a professional or novice a very happy National Poetry Day. Thanks for reading, pop back tomorrow for gluten free feeding My head I shall bow so you take care for now..... good night and a little later - sleep tight

I bought my first tea cosy the other day as I do actually have a large teapot to put it on. This is great because it does keep it warm while I work my way through a big brew. It is so big though it made me laugh when I put it up against my little teapot. This gave me my inspiration for my verse for today....
Think I overestimated my cosy oh blimey I feel a bit dozy It's like an oversize quilt for a teapot yet to be built Silly me, whatever was I thinking? I have one teapot it will fit quite snuggly I have to admit Gallons of tea to stay warm my bladder I'll have to inform Silly me, whatever was I thinking? Do people use a cosy today? not seen one since my nan's from her day Then they were knitted by the WI, yes it fitted I really don't know what I was thinking I'm going to make cosies cool again order another or maybe ten You'll want one for yours hot tea it ensures See, now I know what I was thinking You know what would be a big hit another teapot so the cosy will fit I'm so very clever a collection I will endeavour Maybe I knew what I was thinking all along Thank you for reading, I will be back tomorrow with Free from Friday, take care for now. It was Roald Dahl Day yesterday and I couldn't let it pass without dedicating my Verse for Thursday this week to him. What an amazing man and an amazing writer. He wrote stories that got kids reading, not only that he made reading fun and he created the most amazing chocolate factory ever.
So for him and in honour of this literature genius I give you my verse for today..... Books which everyone can understand children and adults in every single land They join altogether whatever the weather and read to their hearts content You transformed us to different worlds lands and adventures unfurled from the BFG to Charlie's Chocolate Factory Reading would become so cool Your books are really funny loved bedtime stories as a mummy Imagination would go wild whether you're a adult or just a child A delight Roald Dahl a delight Who could forget Tales of the Unexpected the seventies I've just recollected They were tricky to get the gist and always ended with a twist Even on tv your stories shone through I admire your ability to rhyme an inspiration you'll be for all time Not only for me but the whole world would agree You're the best Mr Dahl just the best! Thank you for reading today, I will be back tomorrow for Free from Friday so until then take care. I went for a walk yesterday and stopped off for a sit down on a park bench. As I sat there I felt the seasons changing, yep right there in front of me it turned to Autumn. It may have been the fact that the park had lost the hustle and bustle of it's summer visitors, the ice cream van had gone and it did feel a little chilly. It just felt different. This inspired me for my verse today so I hope you like it.
I noticed it yesterday while out for a walk it was like a good friend who was leaving and would no longer talk A sad farewell for another year goodbye to the Summer, for now Autumn is here My son, he insists it's called 'Fall' who am I to argue, he's way to tall We sat, chatted and took in the view him with an ice lolly and me with my brew It's back to school and college tomorrow I sense some excitement, definitely no sorrow A new uniform for some to wear early mornings and being told to 'brush that hair' Will we be organised and all on time it would be a miracle and totally sublime I have two teenagers what could possibly go wrong? Should I invest in a fanfare or a bloody big gong? I haven't missed going on the school run the roads they'll be busy - oh what fun! Not for much longer, a year now to go my youngest will go to college, for him a bus I will show So we say a goodbye to the summer I'm so sad, it's such a bummer I don't like the dark nights wearing jumpers and big woolly tights I suppose it will be cosy, a bit chilly but who knows we really don't have a choice, we'll go with what flows Maybe Autumn will be sunny, sticky and warm an Indian summer would suffice and totally against the norm Whatever it is it's another season we have been given happy tales, holiday snaps and everything forgiven As on we go, the future to be had just pop on a cardigan and let's all be really glad. Thanks for reading, I will be back tomorrow for Free From Friday. For now take care...... |
