The Dream

I like where I am in this dream
to wake from it would seem really mean
The scenes that I'm seeing
real feelings I'm a seeing
Please let me dream a little longer

Of course in reality I would like to wake
carry on with the life I'm trying to make
The goodness seems real
from that I'd want to steal
If I was allowed to dream a little longer

It's a dream that can never be
I've tried it in the real world you see
A complete waste of time
but hope was all mine
Please let me dream a little longer

Why does it feel so good?
be real? Just maybe it could
These feelings I don't often feel
a shame really as it would be ideal
So please let me dream a little longer

Later I will wake
and these feelings I will shake
Go forward and leave it behind
move on and clear my mind
But I would like to dream a little longer

I don't think it hurts to be a dreamer
I could be doing worse or something extremer
What hurt does it do?
To love like I do
So please let me dream a little longer

Behind the Hedge

It so needed a big chop didn't it? What a difference. So much difference it inspired my verse for today.

Bye Bye Big Huge Hedge

Today I had my hedges chopped
a load of foliage cut and dropped
It had grown very high
looking at it made me sigh

So now it's been minced into little pieces
a mound in the truck forever increases

It's then driven away
goodbye and good riddance I say

Now my garden is light
my hedge had grown with all its might
Enclosing us within
Darkness we were living in

But now I'll have my trimmers at the ready
step ladders I'll have to keep steady
I'll try not to fall
While aiming to keep it all small

Bye bye huge big hedge
and hello to my new pledge
Twenty foot you are no longer
six is a bit more of a wonder

So there it will stay
If I have to measure it every day
A new friend has become mine
a ball of heat they call sunshine

Thanks for reading. Catch you back here tomorrow for Free from Friday.

Take care for now........

The Gardener I Think I Should Be

I've not been a big fan of gardening in fact I would go as far as to say I have never liked it at all. I have a deserted greenhouse and a shed that houses garden tools which still look as new as when they were in the shop. Get this though and don't be shocked, I'm actually coming around to the idea. I've been tidying up my garden and it is quite rewarding when it starts to improve.

So after visiting the Flower Show at the weekend I think I may be getting some inspiration. It's like the horticultural part of my brain is finally waking up and why not? A garden can be so pretty and a very tranquil place to be, I quite like that. I don't know whether my aching body quite agrees with my brain but hey ho, it will catch up.

My verse for Thursday is dedicated to my dream of being ' the gardener I think I should be'..........

My garden it needs so much love
I'm hoping Percy Thrower is looking down from above
To give me inspiration
and lots of information
To be the gardener I think I should be

It's a bigger job than one first thought
many tools and equipment have been bought
The weeds keep on growing
the lawn always needs mowing
One day I'll be the gardener I think I should be

I'm thinking I could be good enough for a show
if I keep up this momentum and flow
Chelsea is beckoning
well in a few years I'm reckoning
To be the gardener I think I should be

I cannot believe the amount of garden waste
and where exactly it is all meant to be placed
I have an extra bin
but it's full as soon as I begin
How do I become the gardener I think I should be?

I'm not good with the beasties that live beneath
there seems to be life underneath every leaf
I feel safer at the end of a rake
I'm supposed to be an adult for goodness sake
Be brave and be the gardener I think I should be

One day my garden will be fine
to sit out in it will be just divine
Some lights powered by solar
the odd can of cola
To celebrate being the gardener I think I should be

The General Election

Well the time has come to vote again.

Please use your chance to vote as it's a right which we are privileged to have, not everyone does and people gave their lives to allow us to vote. You can get plenty of help and advice if it is your first time and even if you are undecided, take a look at the mandates and go for something you know is important to you. Whoever you vote for and whoever wins the votes tomorrow lets respect this democracy and move forward.

I wrote a little verse about the election.......

Join the right queue
receive a paper to view
Who will you choose?
Who will win? and Who will lose?
It's not easy for all
Are we on the up or due for a fall?

The important thing is to be there
for those who gave their lives, it's only fair
You may still want to ask questions
even offer some suggestions
But please go today
and have your own say

It's not about which colour you prefer
or which leader, a him or a her
It's about the promise that is made
and which party won't let your dreams fade
From beginning to end
with good policies that blend

Tomorrow is always another day
the result may not go your way
Let none of us get mad
a democracy has been had
Go forward is what we do
only another four years to get through

It will be a long long night
ballot boxes only know of the plight
Lots of counting to be done
checked again but not for fun
The finish is all so formal
can we please now get back to normal?

Whatever normal is, but we'll see. Thank you for reading and I will catch you tomorrow for Free From Friday

Take care.

World Milk Day

I bet you didn't know it was World Milk Day on the 1st June? No neither did I. It is an annual celebration of the white stuff and to highlight the important role played by the dairy industry.

I remember when we had milk delivered to the doorstep in glass pint bottles and the excitement of pressing down and unsealing that fresh pint. Where did the creamy top of the milk have to go?.......On your cornflakes with a good sprinkle of sugar, just heavenly. There would be a fight for it in every household. Funny though there was never a fight to pay the milkman at the end of the week. You still can't beat a glass of milk and a biscuit of some kind, well go on then maybe two or three. If you're feeling healthy you can make a smoothie with loads of fruit. So many possibilities it deserves to have it's own day.

To celebrate World Milk day I wrote a verse, hope you enjoy it........

Milk

I love it on my cereal
I love it in my tea
I get narky when it's all run out
Who's going to the shop to get some more, guess that will be me.

It takes up half the supermarket
Red top, yellow top, green top, blue
From cows and goats and soya beans
and nuts and no lactose too

The skimmed is one to get used to
as it resembles something quite thin
There's not enough fat in there
too much and it ends up being a syn

B.O.B is what we have in our fridge
Best of both is what it means
A little bit of the thicker stuff
but some thin stuff to make me lean

We also have the milk from goats
as one of us cannot tolerate the cow's
It makes one sneezy and wheezy
more trouble than anyone allows

So it is something that is a lot like people
different shapes, sizes and some soft like silk
Some of us like it, some of us don't
It's that everyday foodstuff, that thing we call MILK

Thanks for reading and I return tomorrow with Free from Friday.

Take care for now.........
