Why do people use that thing?
it opens the door with a big long swing
Made for people with a disability, maybe in a wheelchair
not just for anyone to use without a care

I sat in a waiting room and everyone pressed it
it's like people just have to give it a hit
They lose the skill of opening a door
it's just too hard, a bit of a chore

Just because it says press to open it
doesn't mean you have to commit
Leave it for those people who really need to
need the time and access to get themselves through

It is useful if you have a pram or pushchair
or if one is elderly too to be fair
but for most people who are fit and stable 
you can push a door as usual because you are able 

It reminds me of a sketch in the tv show Father Ted
the one with the button that is red
Dougal is enticed with wanting to press
and the aeroplane he is on gets into a bit of a mess

So please please leave it to those who need it
just ignore the button, open the door and just sit
I'm over it now, outta here gone

I'm lost when I have finished a book
searching aimlessly, nowhere to look
The one that I have finished was a top read
I want some more it's planted the seed

Now I could download a new one to my ipad
but I like a real book it makes me feel glad
Glad to turn proper pages and see the print
it's fresh newness is unbeatable - just totally mint

Plus you can also pass books onto others
friends, siblings, fathers and mothers
Though I don't think my mum would read my kinda books
they are a bit crimey, murdery not a favourite for her to look

I do like a bit of drama, something with a twist
I love working it out trying to get the gist
This one was tense, could be a movie that seems to be the trend
I couldn't stop reading didn't want it to end

But it has and another I shall find
well I have already because it's on my mind
Another from the same author, so excited for more
I'll be happy tomorrow when my book gets dropped at my door

My son, he made a cake at college today
a glorious Victoria sandwich with is now on display
With it's fluffy sponge and tasty jam
ingredients were measured to the nearest gram

I've never seen so much sugar, butter and flour
I packed it all in tubs and made a big tall tower
An extra bag was needed with all this strife
God bless the Tesco bag for life

I packed the eggs by wrapping them in kitchen roll
well they were going out on a bumpy stroll
I wondered if they would get there without a crack
it seems they did as a cake came back

It was very yummy
yummy in my tummy
The best cake I've ever tasted
see my son, those ingredients certainly were not wasted

Branded or unbranded I don't really care
Sometimes it's cheaper though to be fair
I am of course on about my food
unbranded wins but then it depends on my mood

I have a fussy teenager who notices the change
and seems to be aware of every crisp in every range
Oh but you don't buy all the food as yet
When he does he'll buy unbranded that I can bet

For me most things taste the same
some taste better, it's all in the game
I don't think Heinz beans taste like they used to
I swear the sauce was thicker, oh the recipe is probably new

​Should Coke be Cola and seek quality from McVities?
Should we be toasting with Hovis and snacking on top biccy's?
It's the top names like Walkers we all get used to
are we scared to say 'no' to Lineker and try something new

Big brands are you worth the extra dosh?
Or are you just there to look really posh?
On most occasions I'm gonna buy off brand
and sneak it past that teenagers hands
