Going Grey?

Well we had to laugh today, the hairdresser and I. A grey hair decided to just lie blatantly across the top of my head, shining in the salon spotlights. I had noticed it, was waiting for my hairdresser to as well. When the question came about what are we doing today, she said a nice cut again and highlights maybe?

I said ' you've seen it haven't you'? At that point we laughed and talked about the prospect of some highlights in the future, just because it might look good and not necessarily to cover my one grey hair. We just pretended it wasn't there. I've actually been waiting for it to come along, not done bad for saying I'm approaching the big 5 'O'. I found one last year but that was neatly tucked away at the back and seemed to decide not to take my greyness any further.

I'm not fussed at all really, thought it would just make a good light hearted subject to giggle about, goodness knows we need a bit of that at the moment. the news seems a bit gloomy and the weather went a bit rainy today.. So as I sipped my cappuccino and announced to the rest of the salon that this was a special moment that I was now sharing with them I thought it would make a great poem too...........

The Grey Hair

Haven't seen one for a while
but there it was, sat with the rest of my hair just waiting for a style
My hairdresser she suggested some highlights
we laughed as we both knew
What was lurking on top of my head
blatantly there in full view

It was silver and shiny
in fact it's still there
They say not to pluck it
or more will accompany it, my scalp they will share

Not dipped into dye or tried a blue rinse
The colours look nice and the choice is immense
Oh I've done well to get away with it so far
there is always 'Nice and Easy' or one from a jar

It was always going to happen, not a sign of old age
It's very distinguished
silver is all the rage
I may keep it going
become a silver foxet
It's good enough for Scofield
Au naturel - it's the furure, you bet!!

Thanks for reading, I will return tomorrow for 'Free from Friday' but for now take care.....

This is what they are playing for, the Women's World Cup Cricket Trophy. Lovely and shiny isn't it? It could be England's or India's as we are now ready for final day this coming Sunday the 23rd July.

I sound excited don't I? Well I am! Since I went to my first women's cricket game with Rock Choir a while back which was between Sri Lanka and The West Indies, I have now grown quite fond of the game. I was one of those people who was not interested at all, found it boring and couldn't see the point but talk about a born again cricket fan. I'm addicted and plan to go to more games too.

Today was the second semi final between Australia and India played at Derbyshire County Cricket Ground and what a match. I have to say a big well done to the grounds team for getting the pitch 'match ready' as there was so much rainfall before, it really did look like it would never go ahead. I thank Rock Choir for giving me a new hobby and interest and here is my verse today about the cricket, enjoy...........

The Cricket

Today I went watchin' the cricket
plenty of runs and a dodgy wicket
The battle of mainly yellow and blue
a place in the final along with England to go through

All to be champions of the world

The weather it started with rain
looked a non starter and so much to gain
In the afternoon it got started
India to go first, their batting to be charted

All to be champions of the world

A brilliant batswoman was Kaur
sixes and many a four
She delighted all of Derby and the rest of the world
a hero in India was suddenly unfurled

All to be champions of the world

Australia you played it so well
feel proud you were able to excel
A delight to be watchin'
many points you were notchin'

All to be champions of the world

So to the final on Sunday we go
the trophy is all of a glow
Two nations so proud
a pat on the back should be allowed

Go forth and be champions of the world!!!

Thank you so much for reading, join me tomorrow for Free from Friday.

Take care for now......

Facebook Heaven or Hell?

It's been around for years now hasn't it? Part of the furniture really in everyday life. Most of the worlds population are part of it which makes you think how big it has become. I remember joining quite early on but just lately realising how much it has really changed since the early days. I think it has it's place in society and is very good for passing information on, promoting a business and generally a great signposting tool for organisations. It is great for keeping in touch with family and friends who may live further a field, I love that I can keep in touch with my family right up in Inverness as we can't see each all the time.

Personally though I think it can be a bit annoying, not sure what it is, it may be that I find it hard to understand other's feelings and miss the interaction between people. I struggle if I'm not with someone when it comes to social interaction as I can't read their body language or emotions. I need that so when it comes to Facebook I tend to misinterpret a lot of information. It seems that nowadays it's a lot less chilled than it used to be, I'm sure it was a bit more relaxed and a place for a laugh but now everyone seems to take things a lot more seriously, leading to a breakdown in communication and relationships when in theory it is supposed to bring us closer together. That's when it can be a bit of a pain in the bum......oh I wrote a poem about just that......

Why do we do it?
Why do we look?
This is real life
not the middle of a book

It can seem bold or can be scary
status's and comments may vary
We don't always know what to say
say it wrong and come what may

Would you say the same on here to someone's face?
Or is it only allowed in cyberspace?
I don't think people would be so rude
if their faces and emotions could actually be viewed

Why should we control what we say?
If you don't like then move further away
Run the risk of being blocked
I really can't be bothered to feel that shocked

Our Friends they come and go
a goodbye and then a hello
For some it's 'good riddance'
that's not a friendship but just a convenience

For me it's love vs. hate
it's useful at times to communicate
But most of the time it's annoying
and becomes something I'm not always enjoying

Maybe life is better as a Tweeter
Instagram and Pinterest may be neater
We just all need to talk
or go for a big blooming walk

Pokemon Go looked good for a while
so much interaction while covering a mile
It gave kids their fresh air
and decent battles they were able to share

The jury is still out on group conversations
a million pings and annoying vibrations
It's a good idea in theory
But can make one feel very weary

So whatever you think of it all
for years it has refused to crash or fall
So accept it unfriend, unfollow and unlike
and love it or use that big thumb for a massive dislike

The thing is at the end of the day if we don't like something then it's only ourselves that can change it and make another choice. So do it and be happy. That's what I plan to do.

Thanks for reading, I will be back tomorrow for Free from Friday.

Take care for now.

International Kissing Day

Today was International Kissing Day, so I hope you puckered up well my fellow brewers. This special day was established in 2006 to celebrate the kissing between lovers and it's place in society. It's not just lovers who are kissing though, we kiss for greetings and other reasons apart from the obvious partner to partner full on snog. There are many people in society still looking for that kissing thing to start happening as well. I'm not saying to go and kiss some random lonely person as you may get into trouble but hey it could be the right trouble.

So guess what? I used kissing as the inspiration for my verse for today, and here it is......

KISSING

We kiss to be friendly
We kiss when we're in love
We kiss with affection
Blow a kiss to those above

We kiss as a greeting
a way to say hello
We kiss very passionately
making the love in our hearts flow

Kissing can be tidy
Kissing can be fun
Kissing can be messy
In the rain or blistering sun

Where would we be without a kiss?
It's something a lot of us would miss
The world so needs to kiss more
as love is what we live for

So today is International Kissing Day
I think it's important to say
Don't let the opportunity be missed
Go, embrace it and get yourself kissed!

Thanks for reading, remember kissing doesn't have to be just for July 6th, Sue from the Brew says you can carry on for the whole year, so go forth and kiss for eternity, spread the love.

Bye for now but I will be back tomorrow for Free from Friday!
