I feel for those who struggle to sleep
staying awake trying to count those sheep
Some go through for eight hours no trouble
all tucked up, so cosy and comfortable

It makes you so frustrated though doesn't it?
especially if you have a fellow human in your pit
Snoring away, a head full of dreams
without a care in the world it very much seems

You feel like kicking and saying 'what the hell'
your snoring is as loud as Big Ben's bell
For me though I'm all alone
the only think that wakes me is my mobile phone

I've usually just nodded off when 'ting' goes the alarm 
or be screaming out loud because I've slept on my arm
Five hours is probably the most I sleep
but there's no point in stressing' or allowing a weep

Its makes my day longer but I kinda like that
I have a lot to do, no bum on to be sat
So up and 'at em' seek breakfast, get fed
there's plenty of time for sleep, I'll sleep when I'm dead

What's all this? Waking up at four
I don't know about you but I'd like to sleep a bit more
at this time there is only so many jobs you can do
or limitless times you can go to the loo

I've tried reading and watching a soap
but that just leaves me wanting to mope
Hot chocolate or milk have not yet worked
and someone has stolen any dreams which had lurked

So what does that mean for the rest of the day?
It's gonna be a long one I hear you say
The coffee will need to be flowing
As that's what it takes to keep me going

I'll find myself something useful to do at this time
a bundle of ironing or some cooking would be fine
But that seems so wrong when it's sleep I desire
if I shut my eyes tight my slumber may transpire

No, once I'm awake that is it
I'll go downstairs and maybe keep fit
A bit of yoga before the hour of seven
oh that would have been Jane Fonda's idea of heaven

I suppose I can sleep when I'm dead
Bon Jovi often sing that song in my head
Oh that's it I'll listen to some songs
because in music that's where my soul belongs
