Another storm with a name - no way
It was just a blustery wind back in the day
All storms now alphabetically sorted
and most of them atmospherically imported

Oh that low pressure coming from the Atlantic
yellow warnings sending us frantic
Lots of rain, big waves and wind speeds are high
It's not my favourite weather I won't lie

Storm Diana sounded a little mad
some parts of the country suffer really bad
Do we seem to be having more of these gales?
Or are the climate change people just telling us tales

Summer's will get hotter and winters will be cold
well that's what we are always being told
I'm going day to day checking my app
and watching Tomasz Shafernaker on my telly, he seems a nice chap

Whatever the weather just stay safe will you please
and wrap up warm if the temperatures go down a few degrees
Down a tipple to warm you up
or drink a hot chocolate from your favourite cup

Don't drive they say unless it's really necessary
does that include Christmas tree shopping and searching for a fairy?
Stay inside and shop online
The storms will blow away and very soon the weather will be fine

I can't wait to join the Christmas madness
singing with Rock Choir will bring on the gladness
A great choice of songs we're ready to sing
and all the happiness that Christmas will bring

We have a bit of 'Footloose' that may just get you dancing 
or you might be happy with foot tapping and a bit of glancing
Footloose, you're thinking is not a Christmas song
No....but I'll give you a few seconds and you'll be singing along

You may be a diva and join in with a classic from Miss Carey
'All I Want For Christmas' will bring out your inner fairy
'Silent Night' and 'The First Noel' join together as one
each sang so sweetly neither to be outdone

We all love the moves that go along with our tunes
seriously, they will make you want to swing your pantaloons
Ok a little jig will do
just don't make it look as though you're desperate for the loo

A lot of time and effort goes into these performances you know
come and see us we will give you a Christmas glow
Rock Choir is the only name you need
singing, dancing, a happy time guaranteed!!

There's never any rest
to decide which one is best
Will Sainsbury's, John Lewis or Tesco win the title
of best Christmas advert as it's so vital

The classics are good, the one with the lorry all a light
or Kevin the Carrot hanging onto his lorry with all his might
 ​Some adverts are never changed 
as shops don't feel they need to be rearranged

They are getting earlier every bloomin' year
and each one seems to want you to part with a tear
Children, animals and even Elton in the mix
but poor old Iceland got told off for including politics

The best things in life are sometimes banned 
ask Franke Goes to Hollywood, Google 'Relax' and you'll understand
They will probably come out on top
appealing for everyone to give ​palm oil a swap

It must be tricky to think of new ideas year after year
and companies must work hard on filming and to appear sincere
For me it's all bit of harmless fun
so enjoy deciding....Merry Christmas everyone!

I wrote a verse back in May last year about my son having a brace fitted to his teeth which you can read here....the-world-of-dental-braces.html

Today he had it taken off...... so I wrote a poem about it........

It did all turn out fine
the boy he never moaned or gave a whine
After a year and a half the brace came off
he's now excited about all the food he can scoff

I am so proud as he has coped so well
he's followed the rules even on the days when it felt like hell
Check ups, he went for every single one
and now at the final one it's vanished all gone

It's been worth it as his teeth they are straight
and not too long having to wait
The time has flown, it doesn't seem that long
since I wrote the first verse, willing him to be strong

Now he is free of a mouth full of metal
I'm going to celebrate with a brew, where's the kettle?
For now he wants to chew some gum as that's what he's missed
and biting into an apple, well who couldn't resist

It came off so quick, snipped off in a flash
all stacked up and ready for the trash
Happy now with a smile so sweet
after eighteen months the task is complete

I'm well and truly back at school
and it feels really very cool
It's Open University to be exact
studying at home but I still interact

I am reading my text book and making notes
reciting proper poetry and learning quotes
I'm testing myself on the correct grammar to use
reading and writing literature, well now there's no excuse

There are rules to get our language just right
I tend to break them though when I start to write
I love Arts and Languages, they fascinate me
which is good because this all could lead to a degree

Plenty of hard work in front of me now
making time, as much as life will allow
I am going to do this, achieve great things
get out there, succeed and spread my wings
