There's a rumble in the Registry Office

I love a new drama and especially one written by Kay Mellor. She has produced some of the best tv dramas such as Band of Gold, Fat Friends and The Syndicate. Her new series is Love Lies and Records which is based around a Registry Office in Leeds. Ashley Jensen plays the main character Kate Dickenson who is busy juggling being a mum and working as a registrar. Her life is packed with meeting work commitments and keeping her family happy which includes her two children and boyfriend Rob.

Kate gained a promotion to Superintendent Registrar which pushed her colleagues nose out slight as Judy played by Rebecca Front had been acting Superintendent but missed the promotion. Woah, she turned bitter though and made it clear she knew about Kate's rumble in the records department with fellow colleague Rick on a Christmas do. Yikes I didn't know there was so much technicalities about having a bit of rumpy pumpy so close to confidential information. Was it the sex that was wrong or the fact that they may have creased someones birth certificate? Both probably.

I love that Kay Mellor writes about real life and situations in which at some point we can all relate. She makes the characters familiar but takes then one step further, exaggerating their personalities sometimes to make pure classic drama. I did expect this to be a comedy at first, maybe because Ashley Jensen has done comedy in the past but I loved it, a great storyline, fabulous actors and some interesting characters to watch.

Will Kate marry her long term boyfriend or will she give into Rick who adores her? We all know Kay Mellor and that she will have more up her sleeve regarding this story, in the past we learn about all the the characters backgrounds so I feel there is going to more that unfolds.

You can catch Love, Lies and Records on Thursday's BBC1 9pm.

Children in Need dominated Friday night's viewing this week and a staggering amount was raised on the night. My favourite part is always the One Show's Rickshaw Challenge. All those that take part are just amazing and Matt Baker is so good at not only supporting them but taking part himself. He really enters into it 100% and he's enthusiasm when they finished was so captivating. I'm a bit biased with that part of the show as well as the finish line always features Rock Choir singing them in. Well done to all the Rockies who took part and well done to all of Team Rickshaw.

I've finally finished binge watch Stranger Things on Netflix. I spent ages wondering whether to watch it and didn't know whether it was really 'my thing' but it was really good. I got nagged my my son to watch it as he raved about it. It's a sci fi epic and very gripping. The story is centred in the 80's and follows a mum's fight to find her boy who goes missing. It's a mission which also involves his friends too as they all battle with strange 'goings on' in a parallel universe. I know! there's monsters and a dark side here too, makes you jump in places so grab a cushion.

It was quite amusing how the series had little hints of other classic 80's movies such as Poltergeist, Stand by Me, ET and I'm sure you can spot more if you watch it.. A cult series which I hope continues, there have only been two seasons so it's possible to catch up quite quickly. You'll want to join the club, it's geeky but it's great.

That's another week over, phew.....not sure where the time goes but I will be back for some music talk tomorrow if you fancy it. Till then........

Take care.
