Oh I've just fell in love with a new detective series this week. It's Shakespeare & Hathaway being screened on BBC1 every weekday afternoon at 2.15pm. It stars Joy Joyner as Luella Shakespeare and Mark Benton as Frank Hathaway who have partnered up together to fight crime around Stratford upon Avon.

It has a great combination of murder, mystery and a comedy factor that just lightens your life that little bit, enough to lift us out of this wintery weather at present. Patrick Walshe McBride as Sebastian Brudenell adds to the team as assistant, tea maker and struggling actor, he is just brilliant and is the icing on the cake to thou detective agency (see what I did there? That's about as far as my Shakespeare goes).

If you've missed this you can catch up with it on the iplayer and I recommend you do if you like a bit of light entertainment as you will really love it. Why it isn't on prime time tv I don't know as it's as good as anything else. Go have a look and see what you think even if it's to also see the beautiful scenery around Stratford, one of my favourite places.

I also got. a bit hooked on The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story as well this week. I'm finding it interesting to learn more about what happened, I remember him being shot but I don't remember too much about the background of his murder. I thought initially that it was to be a one off drama, film documentary type thing but no it's a nine part series.

There are some familiar faces such as Ricky Martin and Penelope Cruz and quite a bit of controversy about the accents. People on the social media places seem to think Penelope is using a Spanish accent rather than an Italian one in her role as Donatella Versace but it's not bothering me much. She was straight into business wan't she? He had only been dead for a few hours but I suppose things had to be sorted. Also I couldn't believe how many people just trampled all over the crime scene. There were people arriving at the villa and press holding press conferences and nobody attempted to clean up or keep people away. Have they no police tape in Miami?

Apart from that I thought it was a acceptable drama, and as I said I just want to know the story so that's what it's all about. I don't need it to be anything BAFTA award winning, I just want the story to be told and for it to be reasonably watchable. I'm not sure how true the story is either. I suppose there may be some family members and friends of Versace who may disagree with some elements of this series and there may be better ways of learning about the truth of this event but I'll start here and see how it goes. It is on BBC2 on Wednesday evening at 9pm.

I'm sure you'll all join in wishing poor Barbara in Call the Midwife the best and a speedy recovery. She isn't looking well at all is she? Oh please BBC, don't make me have to grab the tissue box again.....not Barbara!!! We'll see what happens later on this evening at 8pm on BBC1

I was also very sad to hear of the death of the lovely and very funny Emma Chambers. She was most famous for her roles as Alice in The Vicar of Dibley and as Honey Thacker in Notting Hill. A true delight and she was a real talent starring in many other roles too. Emma made me laugh on many occasions and I don't think anyone could have played Alice as well as her. Too many classic moments to mention, I would be here all day and I honestly wouldn't be able to type as I would cry with laughter just recalling them. I'm laughing now especially thinking of 'I can't believe it's not butter'. The jokes at the end of Vicar of Dibley along with Dawn French were just class and I will remember them for as long as I live.

RIP you gorgeous woman, fly high and make those angels giggle.

I dedicate this weeks 'Pass the Remote' to you xx
